Box Office: ‘Sinners’ Makes $4.7 Million in Previews

Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler are making a significant impact on the box office yet again, with their latest horror film “Sinners” having earned approximately $4.7 million during its Thursday preview screenings to date.

The adult-themed vampire thriller “Sinners” is projected to earn between 45 and 50 million dollars during its debut weekend, with some predictions exceeding 50 million dollars. Warner Bros., however, has provided a more conservative estimate of 35 to 40 million dollars. If it also performs well overseas, it could add an additional 10 to 15 million dollars at the international box office, making for a very profitable opening weekend.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can’t help but express my delight over Warner Bros.’ recent successes. After a couple of misses with “The Alto Knights” featuring Robert De Niro and Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17,” they’ve certainly made a comeback. The year’s box office champ, “A Minecraft Movie,” has raked in an impressive $283 million domestically and a staggering $557 million globally. It shattered the record for the biggest opening for a video game movie (previously held by “The Super Mario Bros. Movie) and is on track to become the first billion-dollar blockbuster of 2025. With its strong hold at the box office over the past fortnight, “Minecraft” is aiming for another $40 million to $45 million in its third weekend. Simply put, it’s a Minecraft-sized triumph!

In “Sinners,” actor Jordan portrays twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who revisit their southern hometown post World War I, uncovering a sinister, vampire-like presence in the process. The film’s ensemble also features Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, among others. Jordan has now been part of all five productions directed by Coogler, including “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed,” and both installments of “Black Panther.
