Box Office: ‘Blink Twice’ Makes $820,000 in Previews, ‘The Crow’ Has $650,000

As a seasoned movie-goer with over three decades of cinematic adventures under my belt, I must say the summer box office highs have indeed faded like the setting sun, leaving us with two new films to ponder – “The Crow” and “Blink Twice.”

As August comes to a close, two fresh films – “The Crow” remake from Lionsgate and the thriller “Blink Twice” by Amazon MGM – are hitting the big screens; however, the record-breaking summer box office numbers are now just memories.

In its initial screenings, “The Crow” with Bill Skarsgard and FKA Twigs earned $650,000 at the box office, compared to “$820,000” for Zoe Kravitz’s “Blink Twice,” starring Channing Tatum.

Neither “Deadpool & Wolverine” nor “Alien: Romulus” is predicted to make it into the top three movies in terms of box office earnings this weekend. Instead, “It Ends With Us,” along with the other two hits that have been previously successful, namely “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Alien: Romulus,” are expected to earn more than the new releases.

Following the success of Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus” surpassing the R-rated Marvel blockbuster in its initial release, it’s forecasted to earn between $16 million and $19 million during its second showing. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s film, “Deadpool & Wolverine”, is predicted to regain the number one spot on the charts with estimated earnings of $16 million to $18 million in its fifth week. Lastly, “It Ends With Us”, the adaptation of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s romance novel, is anticipated to make between $10 million and $12 million during its third week.

“Blink Twice” is targeting an earnings range between 7 million and 8 million U.S. dollars from approximately 3,000 theaters worldwide. Channing Tatum plays a wealthy tech entrepreneur who extends invitations to a group of women to his exclusive island retreat, but things soon take a sinister turn. The movie, distributed globally by Warner Bros., was made on a budget of only 20 million dollars, ensuring it remains financially sound even with a modest opening weekend.

As a follower, I’m eagerly anticipating that “The Crow” reboot will rake in between $6 million to $9 million at approximately 2,500 venues. Lionsgate has invested $10 million in this project, the remake of the iconic 1992 film where the late Brandon Lee played the lead role. Consequently, a low single-digit opening won’t be as painful for us considering our initial investment. In this upcoming movie, Alexander Skarsgard portrays Eric Draven, also known as the Crow, a vengeful character who returns from the dead to seek justice after his and his girlfriend’s brutal murders.
