Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Will Run “Mostly” At 30FPS, Will Also Support Joy-Con Mouse Controls

As a thrilled fan, I couldn’t help but share some exciting news about Borderlands 4! Randy Pitchford, the big boss at Gearbox, has spilled some beans about the game coming to Switch 2 on October 3. He mentioned that they are striving for a smooth 30fps gameplay experience, but during intense moments, you might notice a slight drop in performance. On top of that, he hinted that Borderlands 4 will be compatible with the mouse mode on the Joy-Con 2! Can’t wait to get my hands on it!

According to Pitchford, prioritizing preservation and cross-platform compatibility was crucial for us. The frame rate will mainly be around 30 frames per second, but may occasionally drop during intense combat sequences or when hosting a multiplayer game in handheld mode.

If you’re planning to purchase the actual version of Borderlands 4 for the Switch 2, remember to make room on your console since Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford hinted that it could come as a Game-Key Card rather than a traditional disc. In other words, you’ll need to download the game once you have the card.

Essentially, Game-Key Cards function as digital keys for your Nintendo Switch 2 cartridges, allowing you to download the game directly onto your console. It’s important to note that these cards aren’t linked to a specific Nintendo account, so they can be shared with friends or even sold to someone else.

In addition to console versions, Borderlands 4 will debut on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 12, with the game launching earlier for these platforms. As we approach the release date, Gearbox Software is revealing more about the game’s characters, such as the new Siren called Vex, the numerous collectibles that are likely hard to find, and an exciting feature that allows you to silence Claptrap once and for all.
