From the very beginning, Claptrap has been a fixture in the Borderlands universe – a noisy, chatty one-wheel robot infamous for his boisterous humor, constant chatter, and intentionally irritating demeanor. For the first time ever, you now have the chance to silence him!
It’s tough to argue against the fact that Claptrap is a mainstay in the Borderlands series, yet it’s challenging to overlook how exasperating he can sometimes be. Despite being intentionally designed this way, players frequently find him annoying due to his relentless one-liners, incessant comments, and persistent habit of tagging along.
In brief, Chadly recently unveiled an exciting update about X: Borderlands 4 will soon include a unique feature – a volume control for Claptrap! This means players can now regulate Claptrap’s volume during gameplay or completely mute him if desired.
Borderland 4 finally shuts up Claptrap, but fans aren’t convinced
Chadly unveiled the news using a screenshot showcasing the game’s preferences, displaying a customizable slider labelled as ‘Claptrap Audio Level.’

Without a doubt, players expressed their delight about the update, remarking: “Praise be! It seems many were weary of him,” one player penned. Swiftly, others joined in the celebration, cheering, “they nailed it” and “Gearbox indeed cooked something fantastic with this game.
While many don’t wish for his silence, some enthusiasts humorously speculate that the volume control might actually amplify him more, in keeping with the boisterous nature of Claptrap, a character from Gearbox Software.
1. “One user humorously suggested that they should have designed it so the minimum was 110%.”
2. “Another commented, ‘It goes up to 1000%, but you’ll just hear a distorted, over-amplified sound like a meme.'”
3. “And the most outlandish suggestion of all: ‘Surprise twist: it doesn’t actually increase his volume at all.'”
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but wonder if it might be on the cards for Borderlands to crank up the irritation factor of everyone’s favorite robot, Claptrap, to new heights. Will this be just another hilarious jab or a genuine development? Time will tell when we finally get our hands on the game this September.
