As a seasoned Vault Hunter with countless hours spent in Pandora and beyond, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming release of Borderlands 4! Ever since the first whispers about its development surfaced back in 2021, I’ve been on tenterhooks, eagerly devouring every piece of news like a bandit scavenging for loot. The trailer unveiled during Gamescom 2024 was a tantalizing glimpse into the world that lies ahead, and though it left more questions than answers, the promise of Eridium-infused chaos is all I need to fuel my anticipation.
At the start of Gamescom 2024, a long-anticipated trailer was unveiled for the upcoming installment in the Borderlands series, which diehard Vault hunters have eagerly been following the progress of. With numerous whispers and sneak peeks leading up to this moment, it’s now confirmed that Gearbox Software will launch Borderlands 4 at some point in 2025.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that we’re stepping back into the vibrant world of Borderlands once more. After the release of Borderlands 3 in 2019 and New Tales from the Borderlands in 2022, whispers about the next installment, Borderlands 4, have been circulating since last year. Randy Pitchford, the mastermind behind Gearbox, has dropped hints left and right, suggesting that we might be venturing into Pandora sooner rather than later.
At last, those rumors have become truth, as the opening trailer for Borderlands 4 made its debut at Gamescom 2024, albeit brief in content. Remarkably silent throughout, it offered a fleeting glimpse of the Firehawk insignia (implying Lilith’s return), and a mysterious planet undergoing destruction, with Eridium-like elements seemingly colliding with another planet.
In the midst of burning debris, a hand emerges from a crater to grab one of the familiar masks often donned by the psychotic adversaries in this franchise. As the trailer concludes, the title of the game appears in its distinctive golden letters.
In the near future, Vault hunters will don their finest gear and prepare for another wave of peculiar alien foes, perhaps even encountering a memorable antagonist similar to Handsome Jack. Beyond our favorite Siren, it’s unclear who else from the regular cast will appear in the game alongside new characters. The upcoming title is expected to introduce fresh playable characters and abilities that can be described as “awesome” or “badass”, following the series’ established trend.
