In a nutshell, the voice actors for “Long Story Short,” the Netflix animated series created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg (the genius behind BoJack Horseman), have been confirmed.
Actors Lisa Edelstein, Paul Reiser, Ben Feldman, Abbi Jacobson, Max Greenfield, Angelique Cabral, and Nicole Byer have been confirmed to voice characters in the upcoming series. Dave Franco and Michaela Dietz are set for recurring roles as guest stars. The comedy series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 22nd.
Originally unveiled in August 2024, ‘Long Story Short’ is a series that provides a comprehensive look at the Schwooper family across various stages of life. The narrative spans through different time periods, starting with the siblings during their childhood, progressing into adulthood, and occasionally returning to earlier times. It portrays their victories, setbacks, moments of joy, and concessions.
As a passionate movie critic, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve learned some intriguing details about the creative team behind this upcoming series.
I, myself, am excited to reveal that Bob-Waksberg serves as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for this project. Joining him in the executive producer roles are Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen, working under Tornante Television.
Additionally, Lisa Hanawalt takes on the role of supervising producer and will bring her unique art style to life as the original artist for the series. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley will serve as co-executive producers within ShadowMachine, the animation studio that will be producing the show out of their LA-based animation studio.
It’s a star-studded team with exceptional talent, and I can hardly wait to see what they have in store for us!
Following his work on “BoJack,” Bob-Waksberg has collaborated on various projects. He co-created, wrote for, and produced the animated series “Undone” on Amazon. Additionally, he worked as a writer and executive producer on the animated show “Tuca & Bertie,” which was created by Hanawalt. Initially premiering on Netflix, this series later shifted to Adult Swim for its final two seasons.
BoJack Horseman” marked Netflix’s debut in producing an adult-oriented animated series. Over six seasons, it gained a substantial audience and received numerous accolades. It was twice nominated for the Emmy Award in the category of outstanding animated program. Will Arnett lent his voice to the main character, with Aaron Paul, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Thompkins, and renowned character actress Margo Martindale also contributing their voices to the show.
