Blue Protocol to end service in January 2025, will not see an English release

As a long-time fan of anime-styled MMORPGs, I’ve eagerly awaited the release of Blue Protocol, a game that promised to transport us into the vibrant world of anime. The news of its discontinuation in Japan and the cancellation of its western release with Amazon Games is certainly a blow to the community.

I’ve got some unfortunate news for fellow gamers and fans of Blue Protocol, especially those in the anime-styled MMORPG community. Bandai Namco Online has declared that they will be shutting down the service for this game in Japan on January 18, 2025. What’s more, plans to release it globally through a partnership with Amazon Games have been scrapped. It’s a tough blow, but let’s hope the dev team finds success with future projects that bring us new and exciting gaming experiences.

The statement from Bandai Namco Online can be found below.

Blue Protocol to end service in January 2025, will not see an English release

It’s with apologies that we announce the termination of the Japanese edition of Blue Protocol, effective from Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Consequently, we’ve decided to scrap our partnership with Amazon Games for the global release of Blue Protocol. Despite the close bond we’ve built during its creation, it’s regrettable that we won’t get to share this game with gamers worldwide, as both teams are disheartened by this turn of events.

There’s been a lot of excitement surrounding Blue Protocol ever since its initial announcement. Our goal was to offer an immersive experience akin to stepping into an anime world, where every player could star as the protagonist. We’ve striven to create a world filled with adventures tailored for each individual. Despite our best efforts in preparation for launch, we regretfully find that we cannot deliver a service that meets everyone’s expectations.

We deeply apologize for the sudden announcement.
