Blue Protocol’s Star Resonance classes are generally well-balanced, particularly as you progress further in the game. However, certain classes excel more quickly or become stronger overall. I’ll be covering the best choices for each of the three key roles: Damage Dealers (DPS), Tanks, and Support. Here’s my guide and tier list to help you choose!
All Blue Protocol Star Resonance Classes Ranked
When people talk about the strongest classes in Blue Protocol’s Star Resonance, they’re usually thinking about how well they perform in the most challenging endgame content, like Chaotic Realm. So, I’m going to assume you’re at the maximum level with fully upgraded gear and the best Imagines equipped – though I will offer suggestions, particularly for Tank classes. Here’s how the tiers work: S-Tier represents the most effective, meta builds, while A-Tier offers strong alternatives. B-Tier options are useful in specific situations but aren’t as versatile, and C-Tier classes are generally considered weaker. However, every class specialization can be effective, especially when building a balanced team for Chaotic Realm.
- Tank & Supports as must-haves: Tanks should have Frost Ogre and Tempest Ogre for grouping and freezing and both HG and SK have taunts. For Support slots you need at least one of the top healer specs from the S-Tier.
- DPS Slots: These are easiest to fill with the highest-tier options below. Ranged DPS do have a slight advantage since boss mechanics hinder melee DPS classes more and interupt their damage rotations.
- Filler Slots: In a 5-man team for Chaotic Realm you might bring an extra support like having a Dissonance Beat Performer and Healer spec Verdant Oracle instead of just one support.
As a player who’s been keeping up with things, I’m really excited for Dragon Raids to drop, but I know things are likely to change a lot once they do! This tier list is mostly about what works well in groups, not for solo play. Right now, I think the best DPS characters have a good balance of damage for both groups of enemies and single targets. For Tanks, I’m looking for those who can consistently take a lot of damage, and for Supports, I want healers who can quickly burst heal or provide strong, impactful buffs to help us clear Chaotic Realms.
S-Tier Class Styles
S-Tier Classes | Why S-Tier? | Best Stats |
---|---|---|
![]() Best Master StyleMarksman |
• Capitalizes fully on the martial/ranged divide since you can just stay safe in the backlines doing rotations or even auto-playing and outputting the best DPS in the game because it’s much easier for you to dodge mechanics/telegraphs than melee. • Your wolf and your single-target boss-killer rotations do the best boss damage with not much effort on your part across the early, mid and early late game. • You need a lot of Crit for both DPS and pet synergy but unlike Falconry’s AOE you’re not punished for not critting • The downsides are that you don’t have much AOE for groups and melee DPS classes scale better than you in the ultra late game |
AGI ↓ HASTE ↓ MASTERY |
![]() Dissonance StyleBeat Performer |
• The best support in the game by far because your healing scales with your damage and you deal quite respectable AOE and single-target damage with the right gear • Beside doing some of the best healing in the game you also have a slew of ATK buffs to boost your team’s damage • You work better with the DPS-oriented Tank specs like Bulwark to maximize boss damage • Arguably the best spec in the game once you learn to align offensive buffs on team burst rotations (high skill high reward class) • You are melee so watch out for the majority of anti-melee mechanics from bosses |
INT ↓ HASTE ↓ LUCK |
![]() Radiant Guard Style Shield SpecShield Knight |
• RG or Shield spec is better in my opinion because it deals more damage which directly gets boosted by Dissonance spec • Endgame RG/Shield has a high uptime for Radiant Shield/Holy Circle so you’re doing a lot of shielding, damage reduction and DPS • Note that shields scale with HP so since RG has the best max HP due to stacking Lightforged your shields are crazy good • Note that your HP will be more spiky as opposed to Heavy Guardian whose HP drops slower so it is slightly harder to heal a Shield Knight but in the end-game tanks are sort of balanced out • You are an off-heal and defense god but you do need something like the Tempest Ogre Imagine to group enemies since your base kit lacks that |
STR ↓ HASTE ↓ MASTERY |
![]() Frost Lance StyleFrost Mage |
• Frost Lance deals amazing AOE and single target damage but sacrifices just a little bit of it for crowd control like slows • I prefer the Icicle spec due to its mobility to dodge boss mechanics effectively and keep up with DPS • You have a flexibile damage rotation by building up Mystic Ice with Crystal Veil and Meteor Storm and then doing damage rotations with Hymn like spamming empowered Ice Spears or empowered Blizzards later on |
INT ↓ LUCK ↓ CRIT |
![]() Block StyleHeavy Guardian |
• Tanks balance out in the ultra late game to all run around and freeze with Frost Ogre Imagine but Heavy Guardian is better before that than Stonewall IMO • This is because Block has more sustain, a better damage reduction up-time and overall better defenses • Your healers will love you because Heavy Guardian HP isn’t volatile and drops at a steady pace due to damage reduction so it’s easier to heal for them • Unlike Shield Knight you have amazing utility tools for AOE like grouping enemies in one place • Overall Block deals less DPS but is a much better tank |
STR ↓ MASTERY ↓ LUCK |
![]() Healing StyleVerdant Oracle |
• You always need a healer for both Chaotic Realm and later Dragon Raids so a Healing Verdant Oracle is a must • The main question is, is it better than Dissonance and the answer is yes in terms of healing power for late-game fights, Lifebinder is the best healer in the game (You have no DPS though) • Verdant Oracle Healing spec will have a much easier time sustaining Tanks and DPSs since Dissonance has to be in melee dodging boss mechanics • Your basic gameplay loop is keeping healing uptime with Nourish, pre-casting Nature Ward for boss mechanics and giving overall regen with Lifebloom pulse • You’re good at alternating between healing fields for AOE heals and also single target burst heals so you can’t go wrong with this spec |
INT ↓ HASTE ↓ MASTERY |
A-Tier Class Styles
A-Tier Classes | Why A-Tier? | Best Stats |
---|---|---|
![]() Bulwark Style Recovery SpecShield Knight |
• Bulwark/Recovery is still a good tanking option since you have even more healing than Shield/RG so rotate DR-Heal Ring-Taunt • It’s just in A since I valued damage a bit more here for end-game content • Recovery is really self-sufficient due to Judgement healing so you’re virtually unkillable with a healer • Just watch out for bigger hits since you can’t stack as high max HP and shields as Shield spec so you’re more reliable to burst (Your HP will be volatile, always dropping and rising whereas Shield SK and Heavy Guardian are more stable) • Watch out for boss mechanics since it’s harder for you to dodge them in melee |
STR ↓ MASTERY ↓ CRIT |
![]() Concerto StyleBeat Performer |
• On average Concerto will have lower heals than Dissonance if you have good offensive gear on Dissonance but Concerto has better buffs • Concerto has some of the best team buffs in the game so I think it will shine more once the Dragon Raids go online on global servers since you’ll be able to buff a much larger team there as opposed to a smaller team in Chaotic Realm • Still deals okay sustained DPS • Slightly better than Dissonance in terms of dodging boss telegraphs since you are more range-oriented rather than melee |
INT ↓ CRIT ↓ HASTE |
![]() Overdrive Style Vanguard SpecWind Knight |
• Vanguard deals more damage than Aerial/Skyward with the condition that you have to learn your combo rotations and have high combo up-time (It’s probably the most difficult melee spec to play) • This means that boss mechanics and poor positioning can interrupt your combos and DPS uptime so it’s a really hard class to play unlike Marksman • Those who tell you that Skyward is better are casuals who haven’t been through the hell of mastering Vanguard attack chains and seeing their DPS skyrocket with good positioning (Slightly joking here but Skyward can be buggy) • For real though, Skyward is perhaps easier to play but Vanguard offers better sustained damage if you put in the practice |
STR ↓ HASTE ↓ MASTERY |
![]() ![]() Iaido StyleStormblade |
• Stormblade is a really good reliable melee DPS with Iado being more for burst and Moonblade more for sustained DPS • For Iaido Thunder Sigils and Overdrive are a good starting point and you should in general only spend on max Thunder Sigils for the best burst with Dissonance buffs • Mooblade Scythe has been buffed for sustained combos similar to Vanguard/Overdrive spear • Abuse i-Frames to dodge boss telegraphs and you’re basically the best melee DPS in the game due to reliable DPS uptime (Hard to play) • Your weaknesses is your lack of reliable AOE damage |
Iaido AGI ↓ CRIT ↓ MASTERY MoonbladeAGI |
![]() Ray StyleFrost Mage |
• A more stationary DPS spec that’s really good early to mid game because it deals so much damage while tanking boss mechanics so that you don’t interupt your beam • That said, I put it in A rather than S because for later challenges and endgame bosses standing in place means you’ll get bursted down without an amazing gear score through grinding or P2W • So while Ray deals higher DPS on paper, Icicle is better since you don’t have to interupt your damage rotation and can more naturally dodge • So overall, Ray struggles with burst windows since you have to stand still but if you do manage to pull them off you’re looking at some of the best DPS in the game |
INT ↓ MASTERY ↓ HASTE |
B-Tier Class Styles
B-Tier Classes | Why B-Tier? | Best Stats |
---|---|---|
![]() Falconry StyleMarksman |
• Falconry is a great AOE DPS but my problems with it lie in that you don’t have good boss DPS and you’re way to reliant on CRIT • That said you are amazing at clearing PVE groups and have quite good utility and battlefield control • Heavy Guardian is best with Falconry since they have great grouping abilities so that you can burst down groups • Just keep in mind that you’ll be suboptimal in terms of raw single-target boss damage and you need to min-max your CRIT as high as possible since it directly synergizes with your pet and other abilities |
AGI ↓ HASTE ↓ CRIT |
![]() StonewallHeavy Guardian |
• The reason I don’t prefer Stonewall is that its tank rotations feel more like burst defenses with long cooldowns rather than sustained tankiness • You do deal better damage than Block so it’s better for soloing but if we’re talking ultra late game boss fights the Block spec will out-sustain Stonewall any day • While all tanks balance out in the late game with Tempest Ogre and Frost Ogre to deal with bosses and groups, I feel like you will have a better time with Block rather than Stonewall until that point • If anything, your HP will drop at a steady pace due to counters and damage reduction allowing your healers an easier time whereas Shield Knight’s HP is more spiky • Your AOE DPS will also love you for your grouping capabilities |
STR ↓ VERSATILITY ↓ MASTERY |
![]() Aerial Style Skyward SpecWind Knight |
• Now I have a personal subjective hatred for Skyward/Aerial because it can get really buggy and terrain-dependent, sometimes failing you altogether • It’s by no means a bad spec and I probably low-rolled it but I had so many awkward glitches making gameplay feel a bit clunky (This might get fixed for the Global release) • That said Skyward is king of dodging boss telegraphs and mechanics at the right time without interrupting their attack rotations (If it works and the boss doesn’t dodge you) • You have amazing burst AOE and respectable single-target damage that can better capitalize off Dissonance buffs • Overall Skyward has the potential to be a really mobile and high DPS spec with the fixes to air mobility (Raise camera and FOV for better aerial aim) |
STR ↓ CRIT ↓ LUCK |
C-Tier Class Styles
C-Tier Classes | Why C-Tier? | Best Stats |
---|---|---|
![]() Thorn LashVerdant Oracle |
• First here’s what Smite/Thorn Lash does: You cycle marks for damage which trigger heals so you’re an off-DPS off-Healer • This unlike Dissonance doesn’t work as well since Dissonance deals more DPS and therefore has better heals • Thorn Lash/Smite is therefore caught in an awkward place of class identity where it doesn’t do either of its jobs well • That said, Thorn Lash DPS can be pretty decent with the right gear options in the late game but overall I’d just go Dissonance since for a healer/DPS hybrid since you get access to powerful buffs • One thing this spec has over Dissonance is that you are ranged so it’s easier to deal with and dodge boss mechanics which favor ranged specs |

That wraps up my tier list and guide for the Star Resonance class in Blue Protocol. I’ll be posting more Blue Protocol Star Resonance guides soon, so keep an eye out!
Blue Protocol Star Resonance FAQ
What is the best tank in Blue Protocol Star Resonance?
Shield Knight’s Radiant Guard and Shield specs both excel at defense. Radiant Guard focuses on increasing maximum HP, which directly strengthens Shield Knight’s HP-scaling shields. The Block spec, Heavy Guardian, is very durable thanks to its damage reduction capabilities. Both specs are strong choices for a tanky playstyle and both include a taunt ability to draw enemy attention.
Verdant Oracle, particularly when focused on Lifebind/Healing, currently provides the strongest consistent and burst healing. However, the Dissonance spec of the Beat Performer class is a close second and offers significantly higher damage output.
Ranged damage dealers are generally simpler to control and handle boss fights more easily, allowing them to consistently deal damage. I’d recommend the Marksman Wolf specialization and either the Icicle or Lance build for Frost Mage.
I think the Marksman and Beat Performer are top-tier classes. The Marksman Wolf excels at dealing damage, though its power can plateau at very high levels of play. The Dissonance Beat Performer is incredibly valuable, offering strong damage output that also converts into healing and significant offensive boosts.
