On June 5, during the Sony State of Play event, a sneak peek was given for the upcoming title in the Bloodstained series. Titled “Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement,” this game is slated for release in 2026. The initial trailer provided a glimpse into the metroidvania-style gameplay that players can look forward to.
In the scenes for The Scarlet Engagement, there was an air of 19th-century mystery with guards discussing castles and magic. However, the main focus of the game seemed to be on its combat. The gameplay appeared reminiscent of Ritual of the Night, but it showed a stronger emphasis on player customization options. It’s uncertain at this point if the game will follow a single main character like the original one did.
Initially, Bloodstained was a game funded through crowdsource initiatives, created by Koji Igarashi – renowned for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Ritual of the Night mirrored its tone and essence, while incorporating unique elements and innovative additions that made it distinct. Inti Creates developed two retro spin-offs, Curse of the Moon and Curse of the Moon 2, to enrich the universe.
