Bloodlines 2’s first update focuses on cosmetics. The really big changes and new features are yet to come

The launch of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 wasn’t what fans of the original game were hoping for. The sequel disappointed players in many ways, resulting in poor reviews on Steam and significant criticism.

The game just got its first big update, but it mostly included cosmetic changes rather than significant improvements.

Halloween update

The “Halloween update” (version 1.0.2) lets you personalize your character with 24 new customization options. The character creator now includes more choices for hairstyles, makeup, and eye color – with eight different styles available for each. All of these new options fit the spooky theme of Halloween.

While the most noticeable improvements in the 1.0.2 update are visual, there’s more to it than just cosmetic changes. The developers have also resolved several problems that caused the game to freeze or fail to start, and they’ve squashed many bugs, like missing dialogue choices. A complete list of all the changes is available on the Steam post.

Most importantly, The Chinese Room studio is committed to listening to players and will be releasing frequent updates throughout this year and the next. They’ve already shared details about what’s coming.

We’re planning to add several features in upcoming updates, including a field of view slider, more save game options, and customizable difficulty settings. You’ll also be able to replay the story focusing only on Phyre’s perspective after your first playthrough, and we’re adding even more ways to customize your experience.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is available on PC, PS5, and XSX/S.
