It’s been years, and fans are still waiting for Bloodborne to come to PC or PS5 – whether as a remake, remaster, or even just a port. Recently, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the acclaimed director from FromSoftware, shared some interesting thoughts in an interview with Game Informer. He confessed that Bloodborne is the game he feels most connected to, even more so than Elden Ring or Dark Souls.
Bloodborne is a game that holds a special place for me. Its development was the most demanding we faced as a studio. I contributed a lot of my own creative ideas to it – from the story and world-building, to the core game mechanics and systems. In many ways, it’s the purest expression of my personal style as a game designer.
To show this isn’t just speculation, it’s worth remembering that Bloodborne is the only game Miyazaki has ever publicly explained in detail. He did this for the Chalice Dungeons at PlayStation Experience on December 7, 2014 – a rare appearance where he went on stage to discuss gameplay. Usually, Miyazaki only does interviews with Japanese media, but this time he actively presented on stage, something he typically reserves for award ceremonies.
Just because Miyazaki talked about Bloodborne doesn’t necessarily mean Sony is warming up to the series again. More likely, FromSoftware is gradually getting ready to announce the release date for The Duskbloods – a new game that feels similar to Bloodborne in terms of its style and themes. It’s expected to come out on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, and hopefully, they’ll also reveal another major project following Elden Ring. While it’s difficult to predict what that will be, a sequel to Bloodborne or even a remastered version of the original seem unlikely at this point.
