As a longtime Warcraft enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the magical world of Azeroth since its humble beginnings, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation at the prospect of Warcraft II: Remastered. The leaked information has sent ripples of joy through the community, bringing back memories of my youth spent battling orcs and humans on the battlefields of Khaz Modan and the Emerald Dream.
A week from today, on November 13th, there’s a planned showcase for Warcraft Direct to mark the brand’s 30th anniversary. This seems like an ideal moment for revealing something fresh about this beloved universe. Unfortunately, it appears that Blizzard wasn’t able to stop leaks, as details about Warcraft II: Remastered have surfaced online prematurely.
According to Wowhead, a new production entry has emerged on BlizzTrack – a tool for monitoring Blizzard’s games. This entry is labeled as “Warcraft II: Remastered Internal Alpha“, indicating that developers are currently conducting internal testing of this remastered version. Moreover, the update also unveiled the game’s logo and initial graphics.
It’s clear that the leak has stirred up quite a buzz among fans of the original. While some are eager to revisit it, others are showing caution, pointing out how Blizzard managed the update of the third installment.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share some exciting news: Based on recent whispers, it seems the developers are gearing up for a significant update for Warcraft III: Reforged. Keep your eyes peeled, as we’re expecting this revelation during the upcoming presentation!
Keep in mind that with Warcraft II, we’re just getting a remaster, not a full-blown remake. So, the enhancements will likely resemble the changes made in the 2017 version of StarCraft: Remastered. This isn’t necessarily a drawback, given the positive reception the original game received from players, unlike World of Warcraft III: Reforged.
Let’s remind that Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness was released on March 14, 1995, exclusively on PC. The 30th birthday of the title in just over 4 months would be the perfect opportunity for the release of the updated edition.
