Black Ops 6 Introduces Saving to Zombies for the First Time

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent slaying the undead hordes in Zombies mode, I must say, the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s return to round-based Zombies has my pulse racing! The ability to pause and save during my Zombies run is a feature I never knew I needed, but now can’t imagine living without.

In the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, fans can look forward to the reintroduction of the fan-favorite round-based Zombies mode, a feature that has been eagerly anticipated in recent years. Although this year’s Zombies experience will retain its classic charm, Treyarch has thrown in some unexpected twists to keep things interesting. One such change is the ability to temporarily pause and save your progress during your Zombies gameplay.

Recently, Treyarch shared detailed insights about the upcoming Zombies mode in a new intelligence briefing. Among various aspects, the sections on Pausing, Saving, and Recovery stood out, offering valuable information for fans.

The blog breaks down the section into three:

Pausing

In simpler terms, you can briefly stop solo games to rest, often referred to as taking a “short break.” If you don’t resume playing after a certain duration, the game will autonomously save its progress at the moment of pause. To proceed further, you’ll need to reload that saved game file.

Saving

For the first time, you can now pause your Solo Zombies game and save it at any point. But remember, your character must be fully alive (not injured, downed, deceased or in the process of exiting). When you’re ready to continue, simply load your saved data and pick up right where you left off.

Recovery

In case the game’s servers or a player’s internet connection interferes with the gameplay, leading to players being kicked out, recovery allows solo players to jump back into the game exactly where they left off. For those playing in squads, rejoining the game and resuming play is possible after a brief spectator period, as long as the host remains active.

Enthusiasts have shown a variety of opinions regarding these recent updates, particularly because they now need the internet to play Zombies continuously. However, Treyarch has explained the rationale behind this, suggesting that maintaining high-quality graphics and smaller file sizes is only achievable with constant internet access.
