As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen the evolution of gaming from simple pixelated graphics to the immersive worlds we have today. And while I’ve grown accustomed to the occasional annoyance that comes with being an early adopter, the “pay to lose” trend in Black Ops 6 is pushing it a bit too far.
I remember when cosmetics were just that – cosmetics. They didn’t affect gameplay or give you an unfair advantage over others. But now, we have skins like the Mecha-Drake Mastercraft blueprint for the Saug, which not only looks terrible but also makes aiming down sights impossible. It’s as if the devs are intentionally trying to make us lose.
I mean, come on! I spent hard-earned money on this game expecting to enjoy it, not to be punished for my purchase choices. And don’t even get me started on the visual glitches that exacerbate the issue in the Firing Range. It’s like they’re testing out their AI-generated designs on us unwitting players.
It’s a shame because I genuinely enjoy Black Ops 6, but these “pay to lose” skins are becoming a recurring problem. I hope Treyarch or Activision will take notice and fix this issue before it becomes the norm. Until then, I guess I’ll just stick to using weapons that don’t blind me with their hideous skins.
Oh, and on a lighter note, if anyone knows who designed this Mecha-Drake skin, please tell them they should stick to designing AI for self-driving cars instead of video game cosmetics. At least there, the passengers won’t be intentionally blinded!
As a long-time player of Black Ops, I’ve seen my fair share of controversial decisions by the developers, but the latest addition to Black Ops 6 has me scratching my head. The “pay to lose” weapon blueprint and the Mecha-Drake skin for the Saug have left a sour taste in the mouths of many fans, myself included. I’ve spent countless hours grinding for in-game currency to unlock new weapons and skins, only to see them overshadowed by those who can simply purchase them with real money.
To me, it feels like the developers are intentionally trying to create a divide between players, pitting those who can afford to pay against those of us who can’t. It’s a frustrating experience that takes away from the fun and enjoyment I used to get from playing Black Ops 6. I hope the developers reconsider their strategy and find a way to make the game more accessible for all players, rather than making it feel like a pay-to-win scenario.
As Call of Duty delves further into the realm of cosmetics and microtransactions, both multiplayer and Warzone have encountered instances where purchased items provide an unfair competitive edge, which is problematic since purchases should not confer such advantages. However, this is happening occasionally.
On the other hand, you’ll find instances where one has to pay to lose in some cases too. This practice has been quite common at the start of the cycle for Black Ops 6.
On multiple occasions, we’ve encountered weapon blueprints that conceal themselves from the player’s view. While these builds are designed primarily for hip firing, many gamers prefer to aim down sights as well.
Another Saug blueprint is “pay to lose”
If you opt for the Mecha-Drake Mastercraft blueprint on your Saug weapon, you’ll find that the excessive visual information will obstruct your ability to utilize the gun sights effectively.
Across various platforms, the gaming community of Call of Duty (CoD) has widely criticized the quality of the game’s visual skin textures, with YouTuber BlameTruth referring to them as “obviously AI-generated and untested junk.
One player commented, ‘It appears deliberate now,’ while another noted, ‘I’ve noticed similar scope problems with other paid guns in this game. It’s clear that something isn’t right here.’
One player bluntly referred to it as “paying for a loss,” while another criticized it by saying, “That’s the result of buying senseless cosmetics.
Who designed this 😂

It’s been suggested by some players that the problem is made worse at the Firing Range because of various visual bugs. However, it’s important to note that many other players have also encountered problems within the game.
Furthermore, this isn’t the first time a Saug blueprint has encountered such an issue. In fact, the Salutations BlackCell design also faced similar challenges.
It’s uncertain whether Treyarch or Activision can resolve the ongoing issues, but with multiple instances happening already, it appears unlikely that this problem will go away anytime soon.
