As a long-time gamer who can remember the days of dial-up internet and waiting hours for a game update to download, I am absolutely thrilled about this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta! The fact that Xfinity subscribers can get early access is a dream come true. And what’s even more exciting is that this isn’t just for one platform – Xbox and PlayStation users will all have the chance to join in at the same time!
The sixth installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops, titled Black Ops 6, will hit stores in October. However, its multiplayer beta will be available sooner this month. If you’re not keen on pre-ordering the game or don’t have access through Game Pass, there’s another method to secure early entry into the test period.
Every year, Xfinity internet users enjoy an early advantage. They can secure early access to the multiplayer beta by visiting the “Rewards” section on the Xfinity website or app and redeeming a code. This year, starting August 30, every platform will have simultaneous early access. The multiplayer beta opens for all platforms on September 6.
In past years, Activision granted early access to Call of Duty betas exclusively to PlayStation users due to a payment agreement with Sony. But now, since Microsoft owns Call of Duty, both Xbox and PlayStation players will have simultaneous access. Phil Spencer, Xbox’s executive, has pledged “equality” for the Call of Duty series between Xbox and PlayStation, and this seems to be one aspect of that promise. Additionally, Spencer has talked about Microsoft’s intentions to steer clear of questionable platform policies regarding exclusive content for Call of Duty, aiming for a more transparent approach.
As an avid fan, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta! While Activision hasn’t spilled the beans just yet about what exactly we can expect, rumors suggest it will offer a sneak peek of some maps and game modes from the full version. For all the juicy details, be sure to tune into the Call of Duty Next event on August 28, where they’ll be dishing out more deets about Black Ops 6’s multiplayer experience!
