As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say I’m finding myself rather perplexed by Treyarch’s recent turn of events with Black Ops 6 Season 1. The double XP tokens were a delightful surprise, and then just as swiftly, they were whisked away. It left the gaming community in a state of confusion and disappointment, much like a kid who wakes up on Christmas morning to find all his presents have been replaced with coal.
As a devoted fan, I was thrilled when Black Ops 6 Season 1 introduced the unexpected bonus of transferring my unused Double XP tokens from Modern Warfare 3. However, the developers swiftly reversed this decision the next day, labeling it as an “issue” and unintended change. Needless to say, the gaming community wasn’t too pleased with this sudden rollback.
Activision’s choice sparked a massive, almost universal criticism, as players were puzzled about why they would reverse the 2XP tokens when they are available during Warzone’s Black Ops Cold War integration.
Additionally, it was feasible to launch one of the boosters in Warzone, then switch back to regular Black Ops 6, allowing you to utilize it just as effectively, even though the booster itself wasn’t directly accessible in the menu.
Consequently, the developers are planning to reverse the modification, as further investigation by Treyarch has shown that the issue is more complex than originally thought.
At the onset of Season 1, a UI glitch enabled players to use legacy XP tokens in Black Ops 6. Unfortunately, this also posed a risk to the game’s stability, which is why it was fixed yesterday.
We understand how valuable it is for players to redeem their legacy…

Beginning with Season 1, a user interface glitch enabled players to use old experience points (XP) tokens in Black Ops 6. This unintended feature carried some risks to the game’s stability, leading to its removal. The fix was implemented yesterday.
Understanding that players value the opportunity to swap old XP tokens in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, we’re working on finding the right method to introduce this modification in an upcoming release. This gives us the chance to thoroughly test for stability prior to bringing back this functionality.
After recognizing a method allowing players to utilize double XP tokens in Warzone for Black Ops Cold War, they not only approved of it but also suggested others to do the same. Although this response addresses certain queries, it still leaves some unanswered.
Instead of “Why didn’t Treyarch explain the issue in the initial set of patch notes?” you could say “Why was the problem not addressed in the first batch of patch notes by Treyarch?
Treyarch has hinted at providing additional information on the changes they’ve made recently, possibly including a thorough analysis of why a significant problem might have led them to remove the XP tokens.
