Black Myth: Wukong player count soars up Steam charts, second most played game ever

As someone who has been deeply immersed in the realm of gaming for decades now, I must say that Black Myth: Wukong‘s success story is nothing short of astonishing! With my old eyes and fingers that have navigated countless controllers, I’ve witnessed the rise and fall of many games, but this one, dear friends, seems to be here to stay.

remarkably, within just a day after its release, the number of players for Black Myth: Wukong has significantly increased, placing it as the second most popular game on Steam, astonishingly.

Black Myth: Wukong boasts over 2.1 million active players on Steam alone, making it the second most popular game behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), which peaked at a staggering 3.2 million players in 2018. However, it’s important to note that these figures exclude the player count from PlayStation 5 and WeGame, suggesting a significantly larger total number of active players for Black Myth: Wukong.

The community’s reaction to the game’s success speaks for itself, as it has resulted in countless memes popping up across various platforms, mostly adhering to a similar style or template.

It seems the game Black Myth: Wukong is racking up impressive numbers. This can be attributed to its immense popularity in China, stemming from Wukong being a significant character in their cultural history and featured prominently in many influential media pieces. To put it simply, Wukong is quite a legendary figure. In the 16th-century novel “Journey to the West” by Wu Cheng’en, he gained notoriety for his remarkable abilities such as recalling every monkey ever born and leaping an astonishing 54,000 kilometers in a single bound. To top it off, he is said to have even dared to rebel against Heaven, making him truly extraordinary.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Black Myth: Wukong is garnering praise all around, boasting an 82/100 score on Metacritic. The combat is so sleek and polished it’s a joy to behold, and the bosses are truly exceptional. However, there are a few bumps in the road – quite a few bugs and performance hiccups that have cropped up. Fingers crossed these get fixed promptly!

It remains uncertain when Black Myth: Wukong will have its impact, but at present, it seems to captivate many and I can hardly imagine it fading from the public spotlight anytime soon.
