USS Callister viewers told to “stop pausing” by Black Mirror
The initial Black Mirror sequel, USS Callister: Into Infinity, is a continuation of the highly praised Season 4 episode, which delved into issues related to toxic masculinity and misuse of power, all presented within an entertaining parody reminiscent of Star Trek.
As a gamer, I find myself at the helm of the sequel, where the digital doppelgangers of the USS Callister’s crew are pulling off heists within the vast world of the virtual reality game, Infinity. This has left quite a stir among the players who’ve been robbed, causing quite a ruckus. In response to these complaints, we, the affected players, have voiced our concerns to Callister Inc., where they gather our grievances and address them accordingly.
10 minutes into the show, we observe that a log appears on screen, containing complaints such as “robbed by two players without identifiers,” “consumed poison and they had no identifiers?!” and “Enemies bleeding in real life – no identifiers?
The replies appear briefly, leaving little time for thorough reading. However, by pausing the screen and focusing on the bottom part, the last concern can be clearly read.
“Stop pausing and watch the show.”
This message is amusing to our viewers as well as to website detectives like TopMob, who are always on the lookout for Easter eggs in every nook and cranny of the screen. Kudos to Mr. Brooker for the cleverly hidden detail in ‘Common People’ that you posted today, which made us feel understood and appreciated.
You can now watch Black Mirror Season 7 on Netflix! If you loved the show Severance, this particular episode is worth checking out. And if ‘Plaything’ was your favorite, don’t miss The Faculty.
