I’m thrilled to announce that the USS Callister is ready for another journey! Netflix has unveiled the trailer and initial glimpses for season 7 of Charlie Brooker’s captivating sci-fi anthology, “Black Mirror.” As a fan, I can hardly wait to dive back into the thought-provoking world this series offers.
For the first time, departing from its usual format, Season 7 of “Black Mirror” will delve back into the lives of characters from a past episode. Specifically, Cristin Milioti and significant figures from the acclaimed Season 4 episode “USS Callister” are set to return in the forthcoming season, with Milioti reprising her character, Nanette Cole. In this storyline, she was a modest computer programmer who found herself inadvertently drawn into a video game by her boss Robert Daly, portrayed by Jesse Plemons.
In the finale of “USS Callister,” Plemons’ character was defeated, but several others, including Billy Magnussen as Karl, Milanka Brooks as Elena, and Osy Ikhile as Nate, managed to survive. They will all be back for Season 7. Additionally, Jimmi Simpson is set to reappear as James Walton, a character who appeared to have given his life in the final moments of “USS Callister” to put an end to Daly.
Or:
Though Plemons’ character met its end in “USS Callister,” several characters such as Billy Magnussen (Karl), Milanka Brooks (Elena), and Osy Ikhile (Nate) made it through alive and will return for Season 7. Jimmi Simpson is set to reprise his role as James Walton, a character who seemingly sacrificed himself in the final episode of “USS Callister” to vanquish Daly.
The newly unveiled actors are Michele Austin, Ben Bailey Smith, Asim Chaudhry, Josh Finan, James Nelson-Joyce, Will Poulter, Jay Simpson, and Michael Workéyè.
In addition to the crew of USS Callister, the cast members announced for “Black Mirror” Season 7 also include Awkwafina, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Patsy Ferran, Paul Giamatti, Lewis Gribben, Osy Ikhile, Rashida Jones, Siena Kelly, Rosy McEwen, Chris O’Dowd, Issa Rae, Paul G. Raymond, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Harriet Walter. In simpler terms, these are the new faces joining the crew of the USS Callister in Black Mirror Season 7.
Initially airing on Channel 4 in the U.K. in December 2011, “Black Mirror” was later acquired by Netflix before its third season in 2016. After a brief pause between Seasons 5 and 6, it garnered 14 Emmy nominations and won eight, with wins for “San Junipero,” “USS Callister,” and “Bandersnatch” in the years 2017, 2018, and 2019 respectively.
The show ‘Black Mirror’ is developed by Charlie Brooker, with him also serving as an executive producer, joined by Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones in this role. They work together under the production company Broke & Bones.
The seventh season of “Black Mirror” is set to debut on Netflix, starting from April 10th. You can get a sneak peek by watching the trailer and initial photos that are available now.
