Recently, the price of factory-sealed copies of the Nintendo DS game Cory in the House has increased dramatically, following the game’s rise to the number two spot on Metacritic.
I was checking out Metacritic’s list of top-rated video games, and you won’t believe what I found! Right after the critically acclaimed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, there’s this really interesting game sitting in second place. It’s a bit of a surprise, honestly!
I can’t believe how close this game is to being number one! It’s only 0.3 points behind the leading RPG. It’s crazy to think that what started as just a joke – bringing back a popular meme – has actually become a really big deal and is impacting the charts.
Okay, so this is kinda wild. I’ve been seeing “Cory in the House” for the DS going for insane prices on eBay lately. Like, sealed copies are around $400, and I just saw an auction that’s already way higher than that! It’s crazy how much some old games are worth now.
Cory in the House DS game prices are skyrocketing

In 2026, a typical, used copy of the Cory in the House video game costs about $8, according to PriceCharting. A new, professionally graded copy can sell for around $27. For a Nintendo DS game that’s over a decade old, these prices are pretty standard.
However, recent eBay listings reveal the game is being resold for much higher prices than normal. Sealed copies are being offered for about $400, and one current auction has reached $721.
And if that’s not surprising enough, the latter even already has 34 bids at the time of writing.

You might be asking yourself why “Cory in the House,” a game largely unknown to most, is suddenly getting so much attention. The answer lies in a resurfaced internet meme.
As IGN pointed out, for over ten years, users on 4chan have repeatedly caused surges in popularity for the game on platforms like GameFAQs and Amazon. This effort even reached Metacritic, where the game achieved a user score of 9.7 in 2013.
Everyone believes the game’s recent rise to number two is a direct attempt to surpass Expedition 33. It remains to be seen if it can ultimately reach the number one position.
