As a lifelong fan of cinema and someone who has witnessed the magic of celluloid unfold on the big screen, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Torino Film Festival! The world premiere of “Waltzing With Brando,” starring Billy Zane as Marlon Brando, promises to be a captivating journey into the life and times of one of Hollywood’s most iconic figures.
Billy Zane is planning to journey to Italy’s Torino Film Festival, as they have secured the global debut of the much-awaited independent film “Waltzing With Brando,” directed by Bill Fishman. In this movie, Zane portrays Marlon Brando during the time when he was getting ready to appear in “The Godfather” and “Last Tango in Paris.
As a movie lover, I’d express it like this: “In ‘Waltzing With Brando,’ I find myself recounting an extraordinary tale where Marlon Brando, the legendary actor, tapped me – a visionary architect residing in Los Angeles – from my comfortable life and persuaded me to create the world’s first eco-friendly paradise on the minuscule, seemingly uninhabitable island of Tetiaroa in Tahiti.
Mostly, the scenes for the movie were captured on the island of Tetiaroa, where Brando and Judge focused their efforts on promoting eco-friendly construction methods and practices.
Waltzing With Brando” has been chosen as the final film in Torino’s centennial celebration of Marlon Brando’s birth. To honor this iconic figure, a 24-film retrospective showcasing the work of the two-time Academy Award winner, recognized for his authentic acting style and rebellious spirit, will also be presented.
The 42nd installment of the festival, happening from November 22nd to 30th, marks a new era with Giulio Base at the helm as artistic director. He’s spearheading an exciting transformation for Italy’s leading event showcasing young directors and independent cinema.
Base is understandably thrilled that Zane, famous for his unforgettable portrayal of Cal Hockley in “Titanic,” is joining Fishman to showcase the film. “You won’t believe it: he’s channeling Marlon Brando,” Base shares with EbMaster.
Previously declared, the survival thriller “Eden,” directed by Ron Howard and featuring Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, and Sydney Sweeney, will officially open the Torino Film Festival. This means it’s the first time the movie will be shown at an international festival after its initial presentation in Toronto.
The full Torino lineup will be announced on Nov. 7
