Actor Billy Howle, known for his roles in “Outlaw King” and “On Chesil Beach,” will be the main character in “Turret,” an upcoming World War II survival drama produced by Noah C. Haeussner, who previously worked on “Arctic,” and Causeway Pictures, the production company behind “Senna.” In addition, Sawyer Spielberg, recognized for his work in “Masters of the Air” and “Materialists,” will be part of the cast in a supporting role.
Moonrise has boarded global sales and will be introducing the project in Cannes.
Turret” – A visceral, high-octane film with strong thriller undertones
Synopsis: This gripping tale centers around Paul Campbell, a devoted family man who serves as a B-17 turret gunner during World War II. As he navigates the treacherous skies over Europe, his experiences are not just limited to the battlefield. His survival triggers a series of events that resonate far beyond the confines of war.
The movie will be jointly written and directed by Tim Bellen and Chris Haifley. Tim Bellen, who has transitioned from being a cinematographer to a director, is acclaimed for his emotionally stirring visual approach, while Chris Haifley is recognized for “Ronnie,” a film featuring Adam Scott, which was nominated for the Slamdance Grand Jury Prize.
Additionally, Ted Lehane serves as co-producer, Robert Lehane as executive producer, Edwina Forkin as the Irish executive producer, and Byron Collins as an associate producer for Flak Happy Films.
The film is a U.K.-Ireland co-production and will be shot entirely in Northern Ireland.
As a movie reviewer, I’d say, “Producer Haeussner wisely chose Billy Howle for the leading role in this gripping epic tale. His rising talent and the collective prowess of our exceptional Irish and British cast members made them the ideal team to bring this story to life.
Colette Aguilar, CEO of Moonrise, stated that this fits perfectly with what buyers seek – a powerful, emotionally resonant idea that’s visually striking, centered around characters, and has a universal appeal.
On the cutting-edge virtual production stage at Studio Ulster in Belfast, “Turret” will fire. Post-production work will be done at Ka-Boom (known for “Catch Me A Killer”), while visual effects will be handled by MILK VFX, who have worked on films like “Wonka” and “Ex Machina,” as well as Dimension Studio, known for their work in “Wicked,” “Here,” and more.
At Conway van Gelder Grant, Howle is handled by Nicola Van Gelder and Rachael Swanton. Meanwhile, Scott Swiontek takes care of Spielberg at Swiontek Entertainment. Lastly, Anvil Entertainment assigns Haeussner to Mike de Trana.
