“Fake it till you make it” takes on a whole new level with deepfake tech! 🤖
Some crafty scammers recently hacked Tanzanian billionaire Mohammed Dewji’s social media to peddle a bogus cryptocurrency called “$Tanzania.” They even used deepfake videos to make it look like Dewji himself was promoting this phony token. 🎥
The real Dewji, who boasts 2.2 million followers and runs the METL Group, was quick to denounce the scam after discovering it on February 5th. But, alas, the warning came too late for some unsuspecting investors who had already lost over $1.48 million! 💰
Deepfake Dewji Promotes Scam Crypto – Hook, Line, and Sinker! 🪝
The deepfake videos showed Dewji in his home office, endorsing the “$Tanzania” token. Despite deleting some posts, the scammers kept pushing their luck with more faked endorsements. They even made it impossible for users to post comments or see warning messages! 😱
The whole ordeal highlights the growing cybercrime risks in the cryptocurrency world. So, remember folks, always double-check before investing in any digital coins! 🕵️♂️
Dewji and his team are working hard to regain control of his hacked account and spread the word about this elaborate scam. Let’s all learn from this and stay vigilant! 🔍
