Larian Studios, the team behind the game, really took a risk, and it paid off. Baldur’s Gate 3 is being hailed as one of the best role-playing games ever made. Players have praised its incredible freedom and scope, calling it a truly unique and exceptional title that stands out from the crowd.
The recently unveiled Divinity game, showcased at The Game Awards, promises to be Larian Studios’ most ambitious project yet. In a series of posts, the studio announced they’re aiming to create an RPG that’s bigger and more immersive than anything they’ve done before. Swen Vincke, in a video statement, confirmed this, explaining that the game will be their largest to date and cautioned that both the game and details about it are still a ways off.
Great and intimate ambitions
These statements were surprisingly jarring, much like the initial trailer for Divinity, which many viewers found difficult to process. However, beyond simply making big promises, Larian Studios actually had more details to share about the game.
Players who know Larian Studios primarily through Baldur’s Gate 3 will be happy to hear that Divinity will be a completely separate game – you won’t need to have played any earlier titles in the series to enjoy it. That said, if you do play the two Original Sin games first, it will definitely add to your experience.
According to a recent announcement on Reddit, Larian Studios is committed to building on the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 with their next Divinity game. They aim to create a more expansive and in-depth experience, while still maintaining a personal and intimate feel. This new game represents the creators’ long-held vision for the Divinity series, now that they are independent, which explains why the trailer carries a mature rating.
Divinity doesn’t yet have a release date or even an approximate release timeframe.
