Biblical Epic ‘Mary’ With Anthony Hopkins Acquired By Netflix (EXCLUSIVE)

As a lifelong admirer of Anthony Hopkins‘ acting prowess and a devoted follower of biblical epics, I am beyond excited about Netflix acquiring “Mary.” Having grown up watching Hopkins transform into iconic roles, it is truly captivating to see him take on the role of King Herod.

This year, Netflix is set to unveil the biblical epic “Mary,” which stars Anthony Hopkins, as it has recently acquired the rights to the movie.

Directed by D.J. Caruso (‘Disturbia’, ‘Eagle Eye’, ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’) and written by Timothy Michael Hayes (‘BirdsEye’), the film ‘Mary’ is a biblical epic about a young woman named Mary who experiences miraculous conception, only to be shunned and forced into hiding. When King Herod (played by Hopkins) starts a ruthless hunt for her newborn child, Jesus, Mary and Joseph must flee for their lives – bound by destiny and fueled by bravery – to protect the baby at any cost.

Two-time Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins is joined by Noa Cohen (known for “Infinity,” “Silent Game,” and “My Nephew From Hell”) as Mary and Ido Tako (“The Vanishing Soldier,” “Sky”) as Joseph. In addition, Mila Harris (“No Exit”), Stephanie Nur (“Lioness” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3”), Susan Brown, Keren Tzur, Ori Pfeffer, Gudmundur Thorvaldsson, Hilla Vidor, Dudley O’Shaughnessy, Eman Farren, Jade Croot, Charley Boon, Kelsie Lewis and Jay Willick also make appearances in the film.

The production team behind the movie consists of Mary Aloe from Aloe Entertainment, Hannah Leader at Luna Film Productions, Gillian Hormel with Ludascripts, and Joshua Harris representing PeachTree Media Partners.

Aloe expressed his excitement about introducing ‘Mary’ through Netflix, as he believes this platform offers the widest and most impactful reach to motivate people worldwide.

Pastor Joel Osteen, who appeared on “The Bible Series” back in 2013, is set to feature in the advertising efforts for the show’s upcoming release.

The filmmakers’ representatives, UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance, handled the negotiations for the deal. Notably, Hopkins is associated with UTA, while Goodman Genow represents Goodman.
