Betty White to Be Honored With USPS Postage Stamp

As a lifelong fan who grew up watching Betty White grace our television screens with her infectious humor and timeless charm, I couldn’t be more thrilled to learn that she will soon adorn postage stamps across America. It’s only fitting that such a beloved and influential figure receives this honor, especially considering the seven decades of laughter and love she shared with us.

The United States Postal Service is honoring Betty White with her own stamp.

USPS announced White’s Forever stamp on Friday as part of its new slate of stamps for 2025.

Betty White, a legendary figure on American television (1922-2021), brought her humor and kindness to audiences for an impressive 70 years,” the USPS stated upon announcing the stamp. “Not only did this talented comedian win over newer generations as she reached her nineties, but she was also deeply respected for her kind advocacy on behalf of animals.

99-year-old White passed away on December 31, 2021, just shy of her 100th birthday. This beloved Emmy-winning actor was famously recognized for her portrayals as Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls,” Sue-Ann Nivens in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” and Elka Ostrosky in “Hot in Cleveland.

The design on this stamp issued by White showcases a digital artwork inspired by a 2010 photo taken by Kwaku Alston of a well-loved actor. Dale Stephanos crafted the digital artwork, while Greg Breeding, an art director for USPS, was responsible for designing the Forever stamp.

Beyond the release of White’s stamp, USPS also introduced a stamp commemorating the late Allen Toussaint, a renowned musician and songwriter, as part of its Black Heritage series. In the year 2025, additional stamps are planned for various themes such as a snake for their Lunar New Year collection, a depiction of the Appalachian Trail, a 1794 compass rose design, and more.

Lisa Bobb-Semple, USPS’s stamp services director, stated that a sneak peek at our 2025 stamp collection shows our dedication to offering a wide variety of themes and designs to philatelists and stamp collectors alike. For this year, we will carry on several successful series and honor commemorative milestones, while also presenting some thrilling new stamps. Furthermore, some of our demand-printed mail-use stamps will be revised this year. Keep an eye out for further updates in the upcoming months.
