Unexpectedly, an update for Oblivion Remastered caused problems with multiple settings across the PC editions of the game.
After its launch on April 25, users found that they could no longer manually adjust certain settings such as anti-aliasing and resolution scaling, as these features had been set to automatic mode without any provision to reactivate manual control.
After releasing the update, Bethesda clarified later on that it was primarily a back-end adjustment, which didn’t influence the gameplay experience directly.
Bethesda confirms resolution on the way
Hello everyone! This is a Community Manager from Bethesda speaking. I wanted to express my gratitude for the swift responses you’ve given us regarding today’s hotfix we implemented. In a recent Reddit post, we acknowledged your feedback and provided some additional information. The update we deployed today primarily focused on making some adjustments in the backend and did not directly impact gameplay. However, we noticed that it has affected certain UI settings for graphical options, particularly upscaling and anti-aliasing, on Microsoft Store players’ interfaces.
Bethesda acknowledged that if you adjusted your graphics settings before the hotfix, they will continue to work fine. However, due to this change, some users may temporarily find themselves unable to adjust those settings. The developers have acknowledged the issue and are actively looking into it to come up with a solution. Unfortunately, no timeframe has been given for when this issue might be resolved.

On April 22, Oblivion Remastered was secretly released on both consoles and PC, coinciding with a unique Bethesda live stream that took place on the same day.
Fans of The Elder Scrolls series eagerly anticipated a return to the updated version of Cyrodiil, which had been a widely discussed secret in the gaming industry due to multiple leaks suggesting its development. On April 15, just days before the remastered game’s launch, screenshots of the RPG were discovered on the developer Virtuos’ website.
Initially hailed as the epitome of remakes by some early critics, it hasn’t escaped criticism entirely. Particularly, the Expert level in Oblivion has faced significant scrutiny, with several commenting that it seems excessively adjusted relative to the original version.
