On April 22, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unexpectedly released, a secret that had been widely speculated within the gaming community for quite some time. Yet, this surprise launch seemingly infringed upon an upcoming mod pack, which shared similar objectives as the remastered version.
Contrary to its surprise reveal, the Oblivion Remaster wasn’t much of a secret beforehand. In fact, prior to the live stream on April 22, many details about its upcoming release had already been leaked, including its file size, appearance, updated cover art, and more.
Consequently, it was no surprise when it became known that a remaster was being developed. This revelation brought the Skyblivion mod team into the limelight, as their very similar mod encountered unexpected rivalry.
Skyblivion modders gifted free Oblivion codes
Fundamentally, Skyblivion – a project that’s been under development for quite some time – intended to recreate Oblivion within Skyrim, offering a completely reimagined and free version of the game. Consequently, when an official remaster was unveiled, it came pretty close to making Skyblivion redundant.
They promptly issued a declaration affirming that modders and Bethesda enjoy a harmonious relationship. Moreover, it’s been customary for Bethesda to endorse community projects similar to ours, and they don’t foresee this practice ceasing in the near future.
Later on, when the official remastered version was released, Bethesda confirmed the accuracy of that statement by providing the Skyblivion modding team with free game keys.

At this moment, the planned launch for Skyblivion is set in 2025, exclusively available for PC platforms. Much like other mod projects, it’s under continuous development without any signs of slowing down. It seems Bethesda also shows no signs of halting its progression.
