When these two powerful queens collaborate to achieve their combined dominance, it leads to the creation of a new movie. The upcoming film titled “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova” has been confirmed by Warner Bros., with production currently underway as announced on May 9. This will be the third installment in the “Godzilla x Kong” series, and the sixth movie within the Monsterverse franchise. The last release was “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire“, which came out in 2024 and became the highest-grossing film in the Monsterverse, earning over $570 million on a reported budget of $135 million. With this success in mind, Warner Bros. is optimistic that they can replicate it with “Supernova“. Perhaps next time, they won’t try to make us believe that the “x” in “Godzilla x Kong” is silent.

The introductory scene is set at a call center located in Arizona, which has been swamped with reports of a giant being, or “titan,” sighted. As the camera zooms in on a computer monitor, the phone number (240) MONARCH becomes visible. When dialed, you’ll hear a pre-recorded message that urges you to report titan sightings, explaining it’s crucial for maintaining our world’s safety. The message then invites you to register for text alerts about the movie by providing updates on these titan occurrences.
Who’s in the movie?
In the upcoming movie titled “Supernova,” the character played by Dan Stevens, a vet named Trapper Beasley, will make his return to the franchise. Alongside him, we’ll see Kaitlyn Dever, who gained recognition from “The Last of Us,” Jack O’Connell from “Back to Black,” Matthew Modine known for his role in “Stranger Things,” and Delroy Lindo, fresh off “Sinners.” The film has also enlisted Alycia Debnam-Carey, best known for her work on “Fear the Walking Dead,” and Sam Neill, a veteran actor who’s no stranger to giant lizards from his time in the “Jurassic Park” movies.

The previous storyline saw them clash with Skar King, culminating in their separate paths. Godzilla resides in the Colosseum, Kong leads a tribe of giant apes, while Mothra left Earth. Although details about the “Supernova” plot are undisclosed, it remains unknown if Mothra will return. The upcoming teaser is set in Sedona, Arizona, where Scylla, the spider-like titan, was reawakened in 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.” Be cautious, arachnophobes!
