As a seasoned Dragon Ball player with countless hours spent mastering each character and grinding for those elusive Dragon Balls, let me share my thoughts on this guide.

Similar to many Dragon Ball games, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero empowers players to gather groups of dragon balls and summon the associated dragons for prizes. Yet, not every wish is of the same value, so it’s important to carefully evaluate each dragon’s wish to ensure no opportunity goes untapped.

Shenron’s Wishes

As a diehard fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the original Dragon Balls and their magical abilities! Unlike the character from Dragon Ball Z that came after him, the dragon Shenron can only grant one wish initially – not the three he becomes capable of after Dende’s upgrade. Here are all the wishes Shenron can grant:

  • I want more Zeni: Grants 300,000 Zeni.
  • I want you to raise my Player Level: Increases your player level (unavailable if at level 20).
  • I want more titles: Choose a new title for your player card.
  • I want new outfits: Unlock an alternate costume.
  • I want to complete an Episode Battle: Grants one Dragon Orb.

As a gamer, I’ve always been intrigued by Shenron’s wishes and this time, it’s all about completing an Episode Battle! Fulfilling this wish grants you one Dragon Orb, a valuable item used in the game’s Episode Battle mode. You might have seen “Dragon Orb x0” on Episode Battle maps and wondered how to obtain them. The answer lies in making a wish for a Dragon Orb. Once acquired, these orbs can help reduce the challenge of the secondary objectives within your chosen Episode Battle. If you’re finding it tough to unlock a character’s Sparking Episode or alternative ending, using a Dragon Orb will make that critical fight less daunting.

If you’re looking to expedite the acquisition of characters and costumes in the game, then increasing your Player Level might be what you desire. However, if you prefer a more gradual progression through the game, leveling up organically could be more appealing to you. In terms of currency, focusing on earning Zeni directly could provide as much or even more than purchasing outfits would. Essentially, it’s a matter of choosing between immediate currency gain and potential long-term benefits from new outfits.

Porunga’s Wishes

In the game, Porunga might not always have your most desired wishes granted, yet he effectively fulfills three of them simultaneously. This makes it simple for players to accumulate Zeni or earn titles. Here are some of the wishes that Porunga can grant:

  • I want more Zeni: Grants 120,000 Zeni.
  • I want you to raise my Player Level: Increases your player level (unavailable if at level 20).
  • I want more titles: Choose a new title for your player card.
  • I want ability items: Select a new ability item to use in character customization.

In the game Sparking Zero, the Namekian Dragon Balls are the most challenging to acquire, but they grant lesser-powerful wishes compared to either Porunga or the supercharged Shenron. To successfully finish an Episode Battle, I find that Porunga’s wishes aren’t as beneficial as those granted by Shenron or Super Shenron.

After approximately 50 hours of gameplay when I called upon Porung for the first time, I had already reached the maximum level, so my request to increase my Player Level was unnecessary. It’s quite likely that other players have encountered this predicament as well. Therefore, “I desire ability items” and “I desire more Zeni” are Porgunga’s most beneficial wishes. If you aren’t particularly focused on titles, take advantage of the free ability item unlocks and Zeni instead.

Super Shenron’s Wishes

In the same way as seen in the anime, the Super Dragon Balls from Sparking Zero are the strongest collection and can fulfill more potent wishes compared to those found on Earth or Namek. The following are some of Super Shenron’s granted wishes:

  • I want more characters: Unlock one of Goku Black or Fused Zamasu.
  • I want more Zeni: Grants 1,000,000 Zeni.
  • I want you to raise my Player Level: Increases your player level (unavailable if at level 20).
  • I want new outfits: Obtain one of the more expensive costumes.
  • I want more titles: Choose a new title for your player card.
  • I want ability items: Unlock a top-tier ability item.

When it comes to Super Shenron’s benevolent desires, they can sometimes lead to unnecessary expenditure. For instance, during my initial encounter with Super Shenron, I thoughtfully requested new outfits for Vegeta, given that the armor I desired from Whis cost 300,000 Zeni. Unbeknownst to me, Super Shenron’s wish for “more Zeni” rewards a whopping 1,000,000 Zeni. This implies that you could purchase up to three of the most expensive outfits with this wish and still have an additional 100,000 Zeni remaining.

Based on your enthusiasm for taking on the roles of Goku Black and Fused Zamasu, it could be Super Shenron’s ideal request to grant you more characters sooner rather than later. These characters usually become available at level 20 (which can typically be reached in about 30 hours), but given their exceptional game performance, you might not want to miss the opportunity to play as them earlier. Just like all shop characters, buying the base form will also grant access to their transformations.

For die-hard collectors, acquiring additional game titles would be the ideal wish granted by Super Shenron. Since these selectable titles are unique to this wish, if you prioritize expanding your player card over free unlocks, it’s advisable to utilize each set of Super Dragon Balls on a new title.

How to Get Dragon Balls

In a straightforward manner, you can effortlessly collect a series of Dragon Balls from Earth by simply playing the game. The rewards for these Dragon Balls come in easy tasks such as winning ten battles in Goku’s Saga or making one edit to your player card. If, after exploring all game modes within the initial hours, you don’t have a full set, check Whis’ Stamp Book to discover which objective remains unfulfilled.

Besides Whis’ Stamp Book, collecting Earth’s and Namek’s Dragon Balls requires considerable effort. You’ll find them scarcely after battles, but we don’t have precise statistics. It appears that Shenron’s Dragon Balls might be awarded about 5% of the time following a successful battle, while Porunga’s drop rate is even lower. A popular strategy among players is to engage in offline 1v1 fights on the World Tournament Stage, quickly knocking opponents out of bounds. I spent around 3.5 hours using this method and managed to gather half a Shenron set and a full Porunga set, so it’s an effective way to collect Dragon Balls, although it might not be the most enjoyable way to play Sparking Zero.

The rarest Dragon Balls are known as the Super Dragon Balls. You can collect three complete sets by engaging in the Episode Battle mode. Successfully finishing Goku’s and Jiren’s sagas will give players a set of Super Dragon Balls, fittingly, since their narratives conclude with the Tournament of Power. Additionally, completing Future Trunks’s Sparking Episode also grants more Super Dragon Balls. However, keep in mind that you can only possess one set of Super Dragon Balls at any given moment – whether this is due to design or a glitch/bug. For instance, if you complete Goku’s Saga followed by Jiren’s without using the Super Dragon Balls, you will not receive a second set and instead get a message indicating that you have already claimed one set.
