As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt, I must say that the Warden build in Remnant 2’s The Dark Horizon DLC is nothing short of a game-changer! After painstakingly retrieving the Weathered Mechanism and crafting the Warden Archetype, I can confidently say it’s worth every second.
Once you’ve obtained the Weathered Mechanism crafting material in Remnant 2’s The Dark Horizon DLC, make your way straight to Ward 13 where you should request Wallace to construct the Warden Archetype for you. I’ve built a robust character with a focus on shields for this role and can assure you that it’s an enjoyable playstyle.

Archetype
In the Warden build, you’ll find that the Primary Archetype is the Warden you acquire by gathering the necessary item from the Withered Necropolis area in N’Erud. The Warden’s Prime Perk, named Dynamic, restores shield automatically and increases energy reserves for N’Erud tech (such as Drones and Turrets) by 50%. To maximize this character’s potential, consider pairing it with an Engineer as the Secondary Archetype, as this will provide a bonus to your turret.
Skills
When advancing your character, you’ll find the choice to employ Healing or Combat Drones, but Warden really excels when you choose Shield Drone as the Main Skill due to its harmonious relationship with the perks. The drone follows and safeguards you or the designated team member (the shielded target) until the shield is completely charged, reducing incoming damage by 10%. Pair this with the Engineer’s Vulcan Turret, which autonomously targets enemies and continues firing until it runs out of ammunition.
Weapons
The weapons you want to use with the Warden Archetype in Remnant 2 are up to you, but I have some good recommendations. For the Long Gun, I went with the Plasma Cutter as it’s one of the best weapons in the game thanks to its superb fire rate. Having said that, I suggest you give the new Monorail a try, especially if you’re looking for a chargeable one-shot weapon.
In Remnant 2, Enigma is often favored as the preferred Hand Gun, but what really grabbed my attention was the latest addition, the Repair Tool. This tool not only takes down enemies, but also restores health to allies and refills Energy Reserves for N’Erudian technology. Lastly, I suggest using the melee weapon, the Harvester Scythe, which was specifically crafted for the Warden Archetype in The Dark Horizon DLC.
Relic
Salvaged Heart is one of the best Relics one can use in Remnant 2. Upon using it on a grey health bar, your HP bar will be restored entirely. Furthermore, its application is fast with a 50% use speed bonus.
Armor
To achieve the ideal Warden setup, I needed the latest Nanoplated Armor Collection since it complements the appearance perfectly. This set can be found on a suspended corpse within the Withered Necropolis area of N’Erud. The Nanoplated Set is a light armor that enhances agility by enabling quicker dodges and conserving stamina. However, you may customize certain pieces according to your specific needs.
Amulet
As a gamer with a shield-centric Warden build, I can’t help but sing praises for the Energy Diverter Amulet. This gem offers a whopping 10 Critical Chance and a mighty 15% damage boost on all fronts when my trusty Shield Drone is in action. Another top-notch choice is the Zero Divide Amulet, which bestows infinite ammo and cranks up ranged damage by an impressive 15%.
Rings
- Ring of Ordnance: Replenishes heavy weapon ammo gradually while carrying or in turret mode and doubles the stowed heavy weapon ammo regeneration rate.
- Mechanics Cog: Gives 15% movement speed buff while carrying the Engineer’s turret.
- A’Taerii Booster: Adds 10% damage and critical chance to heavy weapons in carry and turret modes.
- Custodian’d Bastion: Increases armor by 1 per 2% of active shield.
Trait
The Barrier Trait has been added in Remnant 2 for the Warden Archetype, therefore, it’s a must-have for this build. It increases the effectiveness of the user’s shields such that you’ll receive the boost even when the warded target is your ally. By leveling up the Archetype, Warden’s shield amount can be increased to +15% by reaching max level 10.
