Best Settings For CoD: Black Ops 6 Beta- Controller Layouts, Sensitivity, And More

As a seasoned gamer with years of Call of Duty battles under my belt, I can confidently say that these settings are a game-changer for those who want to optimize their gaming experience.

In a nutshell: The sixth installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops, which releases on October 25th, is currently available for early testing through an open beta. The second week of this beta kicks off on September 6th, and to fully enjoy the game’s innovative omnimovement system, some settings may need to be tweaked in your menu. This guide will walk you through adjusting the controller, graphics, and audio settings within Black Ops 6

While optimal settings can vary based on individual preferences, we’re sharing the setup choices we favor for console gamers using PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox One/Series X|S:

Best controller settings

Inputs

  • Edit button layout: Default or tactical
  • Stick layout preset: Default
  • Horizontal stick sensitivity: 6-7
  • Vertical stick sensitivity: 6-7
  • Simplified controls: Off
  • Low motor strain: Off
  • L1 Button ping: Off
  • Swap L12/R1 with L2/R2: Off

Controller

  • Controller Vibration: Off
  • Trigger effect: Off

Whether you choose the default or tactical button layout might depend on the type of controller you use. Black Ops 6 features the most advanced movement of any boots-on-the-ground Call of Duty, with fast and fluid omnidirectional movement.

For those utilizing a typical control setup, it’s suggested to opt for the tactical layout since it assigns the crouch/slide/dive function to the thumbstick. This allows for swift movements without requiring any adjustments from your thumb. If you have an advanced controller such as Scuf or another device that enables button remapping, you can simply keep this setting unaltered

Disabling the Trigger Effect on your PS5 is highly recommended for better precision when aiming. Although it can add an interesting touch to the gaming experience, turning it off will help improve your accuracy significantly

Deadzone

Best Settings For CoD: Black Ops 6 Beta- Controller Layouts, Sensitivity, And More

Deadzone Inputs:

  • Left Stick Min: 0.3
  • Left Stick Max: 0.99
  • Right Stick Min: 0.3
  • Right Stick Max: 0.99
  • L2 Button: 0.0
  • R2 Button: 0.0

The sensitivity of stick drift can differ among players’ controllers. Fortunately, Black Ops 6 retains the useful Modern Warfare 3 function for adjusting the deadzones on your controller, and you can locate it conveniently within the settings

Initially, use the standard Deadzone settings. Next, activate the Test Stick Deadzone feature. This test will display figures on the lower portions of your left and right joysticks. The numbers presented should guide you in increasing the minimum stick drift number for each joystick by at least one unit above the given value

In simpler terms, if your left joystick test reads as ‘3’ and the right one as ‘2’, you should increase the minimum drift threshold for the left joystick to ‘4’ and for the right one to ‘3’. After that, repeat the test to ensure there’s no further drift

Lastly, you’ll want L2/R2 set to 0.0 to make sure you’re getting instant activation.

Aiming

  • Sensitivity Multiplier:
    • Ground vehicle sensitivity: 1.00
    • Air scorestreak sensitivity multiplier: 1.00
    • Tablet sensitivity: 1.00
    • ADS Sens. Multiplier (Focus): 0.90
  • Look inversion (On foot): Standard

Aiming advanced settings

  • Look inversion:
    • Ground vehicles: Standard
    • Air vehicles: Standard
  • ADS Sensitivity transitioning timing: Instant
  • Aim response type curve: Standard
  • Custom sensitivity per zoom: Off

Aim assist

  • Target aim assist: On

Motion sensor aiming

  • Motion Sensor Aiming: Off
  • Motion Sensor Advanced Setting: Off

The unique PlayStation function, motion sensor aiming, enables you to adjust the direction of your aim by tilting the controller. This feature might be beneficial for accessibility purposes. However, it’s usually best to keep this setting deactivated, as this is the default configuration displayed previously

Intelligent movement

Best Settings For CoD: Black Ops 6 Beta- Controller Layouts, Sensitivity, And More

  • Sprint assist: Tactical sprint assist
    • Sprint assist delay: Turn all the way down to 0
    • Sprint assist sideways: On
    • Sprint assist backward: On
  • Mantle assist: Off
  • Crouch assist: Off

In Black Ops 6, there’s a fresh feature called Intelligent Movement Settings. These settings aim to make character movement more fluid and continuous with minimal button presses required

These settings are going to come down to personal preference, and I suggest playing around with them to see what you prefer. You might want to keep the sprint assist setting off to play a bit slower and more tactical, but for me, I found that it gave me much more fluid movement, and it required fewer button inputs to get sprinting into action and make use of the omnidirectional movement. As an added bonus, it makes for less wear on your hands and your thumbsticks as well.

Although you may enjoy wearing the mantle, I frequently found myself assuming it at inconvenient moments when I’d rather stay hidden. This configuration encourages continuous movement, yet it appears to create a situation where you could find yourself at a disadvantage

Movement behaviors

  • Automatic airborne mantle: Off
  • Slide/Dive behavior: Tap to slide
  • Auto door peek: Off

Advanced movement behaviors

  • Sprint/Tactical sprint behavior: Toggle
  • Auto move forward: Single tap
  • Sprint restore: On
  • Slide maintains sprint: On
  • Tactical sprint behavior: Single tap sprint
  • Plunging underwater: Trigger
  • Sprinting door bash: On

Vehicle behaviors

  • Vehicle camera recenter: Short delay
  • Camera initial position: Free look

  • Depleted ammo weapon switch: On
  • Scorestreak reordering: Numerical order
  • Dedicated melee weapon behavior: Hold melee
  • Swap body shield and execution behavior: Off

  • FIDELITYFZ CAS: On

View

Accessibility solutions:

  • Motion reduction: On/off is personal preference

For the motion reduction setting, I personally use this because I’m sensitive to motion sickness. This is a good setting to turn on if you find that you’re sensitive to the movement as well.

Field of view

  • Field of view: Choose somewhere in 90-120 range
  • ADS field of view: Affected
  • Weapon FOV: Default
  • Vehicle FOV: Default

Increasing the scope of your viewpoint allows for a broader perspective, yet everything appears less detailed due to the zooming effect. The adjustment options extend up to 120 degrees, however, this might make things seem too distant. It comes down to individual taste, but I suggest experimenting with settings between 90 and 120 degrees for an optimal balance

Camera

  • First-Person camera view: Least 50%
  • Inverted flashbang: Off/On personal preference

If you’re bothered by bright flashes, an “inverted flashbang” setup could be beneficial for you. It transforms the flash into a brief period of darkness instead

Best audio settings

Volumes

  • Master game volume: 70-100
  • Gameplay music volume: 25-30
  • Dialogue volume: 80
  • Effects volume: 100
  • Cinematic music volume: 25-30

In Call of Duty games, everything seems incredibly loud, with the music standing out particularly. However, it isn’t necessary to crank up all the volumes to fully enjoy the game. As for my personal preference, I usually decrease the music significantly and reduce other volumes slightly, while keeping the effects volume at a higher level

In the game, you’ll find that the sound effects volume will feature crucial footstep audio, making it unwise to lower it. Instead, you’ll want to keep the footsteps at their maximum level, 100%. Additionally, the dialogue volume incorporates significant announcer alerts regarding enemy scorestreaks and similar elements, meaning you should also avoid turning this sound down too much

Global

  • Audio mix: Home Theater or Headphones Bass Boost
  • Speakers/headphones device: Whatever device you’re using for sound
  • Mono audio: Off

This setting is the hardest to list because it can be a lot of personal preference and dependent on what device you’re using for audio. If your sound is coming through your TV, Home Theater gives you great sound and decent footstep audio. If you’re using a headset on console, Home Theater still provides solid audio, but Headphones Bass Boost is a great option for hearing footsteps better.

Functionality

  • Reduce tinnitus sound: On/Off
  • Hitmarker sound effects: Default

This section is also about personal preference. I personally like the Reduce Tinnitus Sound turned on to reduce the sometimes extreme sound of the flashbang and concussion grenade effects. Choose what’s best for you.

Voice Chat

  • Voice chat volume: 80
  • Voice chat device: On
  • Proximity chat: On
  • Last words voice chat: On or Off (Depends on if you want the enemy who killed you to hear your death comms)
  • Game voice channel: (Depends on if you want to hear the entire lobby, party only, or friends only

Tweaking these settings on your console is likely to optimize your aim, movement, sound, and graphics in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, enhancing your gaming experience
