Bentonville Film Festival Announces Jury and Additional Programming For 2025 Edition

The Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) has revealed details for their Shaping the Narrative, Geena & Friends participants, Juneteenth and Spotlight programming, along with jurors, additional panels, and events scheduled for the 2025 festival, running from June 16-22. The upcoming 2025 Bentonville Film Festival will celebrate its eleventh year by highlighting the perspectives of women, non-binary individuals, LGBTQIA+ community members, people of color, and those with disabilities within the entertainment industry.

In 2025, “Geena & Friends” will make a comeback on our screens. This series stars Geena Davis along with Shoreh Aghdashloo from “The Penguin”, Toks Olagundoye from “Frasier”, Alysia Reiner from “The Diplomat”, and Brenda Song from “Running Point”. The live event is scheduled for Friday, June 20 at the Thaden Theater this year.

Moreover, Song is set to receive the EbMaster Virtuoso Award, in collaboration with EbMaster, on June 20. The “Shaping the Narrative” discussion series in Bentonville will resume this year, featuring Olympic track and field champion Allyson Felix in a talk hosted by Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Ingeborg Initiatives.

BFF president Wendy Guerrero expressed her excitement about this year’s festival with an enlarged schedule that honors our commitment to highlighting various perspectives in narratives, and a jury equally passionate and enthusiastic. We’re particularly eager for the discussions with activist Allyson Felix, whose work embodies the ideals of fairness and empowerment we aim to promote. We take pride in cultivating a space that nurtures the emerging talents of storytellers who embrace inclusivity.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected as part of the esteemed jury for this year’s Bentonville Film Festival awards! Joining me are Anne Alvergue, Keely Cat-Wells, Joshua Dahlman, Kathryn Everett, James Faust, Marie Jamora, Michelle Krusiec, Toks Olagundoye, Pallavi Sastry, Nicole Shipley, Bomani J. Story, and Claire Taylor. We’re all looking forward to reviewing the exceptional films that will be showcased at this year’s festival.

In celebration of Juneteenth, the best friend will honor the occasion by highlighting a two-day event featuring films and creators who have strong connections to Arkansas. The lineup for the Juneteenth program includes “The Paris 3,” “COLBERT: All Students Can Learn,” “Traveling Mercies” and “God Said Give ‘Em Drum Machines.” Additionally, other panels and special screenings scheduled for the festival include discussions on authenticity in portraying disability on screen, STEAM sessions, a conversation with Jay Ruderman titled “Find Your Fight,” a case study on documentary ethics, and many more interesting events.
