Benedict Bridgerton’s Ho Phase Is Coming to a Close

As a devoted cinephile with a deep appreciation for historical dramas and romantic storylines, I am thrilled to hear that Netflix’s “Bridgerton” will be exploring the backstory of Benedict Bridgerton in season 4. Having followed the show since its inception, I have come to admire the way it skillfully weaves complex themes and representation into its narrative.

Netflix has revealed that the fourth season of “Bridgerton” will focus on Benedict Bridgerton, the Bridgerton family member who contributes to the LGBT+ community. In the previous season, Benedict ended his relationship with his girlfriend after a complicated three-way encounter, indicating he wasn’t prepared for commitment yet. However, according to Variety, Benedict will be ready to embark on a new love story by 2025. The plot for Benedict’s romantic tale is taken from the novels, titled “An Offer From a Gentleman.” In this storyline, Benedict becomes infatuated with a woman shrouded in mystery, who turns out to be Sophie Beckett, a non-Bridgerton commoner.

As a movie reviewer, I’d say: In an unexpected move, showrunner Jess Brownell deviated from the book sequence in Bridgerton, introducing Polin before the Lady in Silver to delve into Benedict’s pansexuality. During an interview with Variety, Brownell shared her belief that audiences had sensed Benedict’s queer potential and felt it aligned with his character. With a nonchalant open-mindedness and fluidity, Benedict seemed like the perfect candidate for pansexuality. Consequently, we witnessed a threesome involving Benedict. However, Luke Thompson, who portrays Benedict, hinted that his character is currently seeking stability within himself. No official announcement has been made regarding Sophie’s casting, and Bridgerton has previously explored genderfluidity through Francesca’s narrative. Consequently, the presence of queer love remains a significant aspect of this captivating series.
