Ben Shapiro Called Bill Burr ‘Woke’ After Comedian Lashed Out at CEOs as ‘Selfish, Greedy Pieces of S—.’ Burr Now Responds: ‘That Guy Is a Jerk-Off’

Bill Burr recently conversed with The New York Times, dismissing Ben Shapiro‘s critique against him. Known for his conservative political commentary and co-founder of The Daily Wire, Shapiro criticized Burr in December, accusing him of “going woke” following Burr’s criticism of self-centered and avaricious CEOs after the murder of UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson. In simpler terms, Shapiro called out Burr for being politically correct or progressive, while Burr criticized certain CEOs who were perceived as selfish and greedy in response to a tragic event.

Burr stated that Shapiro’s assertion was based solely on the fact that if he added the term ‘woke’ to what Burr said, it would bring him more profit. Burr expressed that he doesn’t recognize this person, but he seems like a disrespectful individual.

Although Burr didn’t endorse Thompson’s death, he expressed on his “Monday Morning Podcast” in December that news outlets were ignoring “the striking absence of compassion from the public towards this, due to how insurance companies often disregard people during their most vulnerable moments, after we’ve consistently paid them each month, only for them to refuse us when we truly need assistance.

Later on, they were removing photos of their CEOs from their websites,” Burr stated at that point. “To tell you the truth, I’m genuinely pleased that these CEOs are feeling uneasy. They should be! Mostly, you’re all self-centered and greedy individuals, and many of you are murderers, even though you don’t directly pull the trigger. That’s why it appears tidy.

In a subsequent podcast, Burr made it clear that his previous statement should not be interpreted as implying that Thompson deserved to die. Instead, he was expressing his thoughts on the general public’s reaction towards the act of killing and finding it challenging to criticize those who did not question it.

Burr stated, “They seem surprised by the question, ‘Who would want to do this?’ While dismissing claims, lives are being lost!

In response to Burr on The Daily Wire, Shapiro penned a written critique expressing his viewpoint that “Over the course of time, Burr seems to have embraced progressive ideologies. I believe he felt ashamed that many people on the right found him hilarious, so he decided to adopt a more socially conscious stance.

Burr expressed approval of the killing of the UnitedHealthcare executive due to his belief that CEOs should be apprehensive if they don’t follow his preferred actions, a system for which he has no solutions, as Shapiro noted. However, Burr emphasized that he was not actually celebrating the murder but rather acknowledging the public’s response to it.

Shapiro further labeled Burr’s remarks as “extremely malicious,” stating, “In essence, he’s suggesting that if your business practices align with Burr’s disapproval, you should operate in a state of constant apprehension.

Before making his Broadway debut in “Glengarry Glen Ross,” alongside Bob Odenkirk and Kieran Culkin, Burr had an interview with The New York Times.
