The second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us” debuts this coming weekend, leaving viewers prepared for a wave of sadness and emotional turmoil. Similar to its first season, which reworked parts of the storyline to add more misfortune for characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), it seems that the second season will follow suit, as evidenced by a script where Bella Ramsey is shown crying. In simpler terms, the upcoming season promises even more heartache and emotional distress for viewers of this popular series.
During an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the actor shared that they sometimes get emotional when reading particularly compelling scripts, which Fallon described as “juicy.” Ramsey admitted that at times during script readings, they have been moved to tears.
As a devoted fan, I must admit that one of this season’s scripts left me tearful. It’s not often that a piece of writing moves me to tears, but this one did. To be honest, the scenes that evoked such an emotional response are the ones I’m most eagerly anticipating. When it comes to dark and intense moments, I can’t get enough! They even jested that they rarely shed tears in their everyday life, which might not be the healthiest of habits.
In a variety of awarding bodies, Ramsey received over ten nominations for their exceptional performance as Ellie in Season 1, which encompassed events from the initial game but with altered storylines. Yet, given that The Last of Us Part 2 is approximately twice the length of its predecessor, it remains uncertain how many seasons the series might span.
Speaking of The Last of Us updates, it’s worth mentioning that a PC version of Part 2 has been unveiled lately. However, Digital Foundry didn’t find the outcome particularly impressive.
