‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Holds Top Spot at U.K., Ireland Box Office, ‘Speak No Evil’ Debuts Strong

The continued success of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is a testament to its enduring charm, while the debut of “Speak No Evil” promises a chilling new tale.


For two weekends in a row, Warner Bros.’ movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” remained the top-grossing film at the U.K. and Ireland box office. Over this period, it generated £4.2 million ($5.6 million), bringing its overall earnings to £14.4 million ($19 million), as reported by Comscore’s figures.

In the box office race, Universal’s latest release, “Speak No Evil,” made a strong entrance, landing in the second spot with an opening weekend gross of approximately £1.4 million. Meanwhile, “Lee” from Studiocanal debuted at number three, earning £705,643 during its first week.

The staged production “Prima Facie – NT Live 2022” by the National Theatre came out in fourth position, accumulating an additional £556,470 to reach a grand total of £1.4 million. Meanwhile, “Despicable Me 4” from Universal maintained its dominance in fifth place, earning £389,929 during its tenth week, pushing its overall earnings to a massive £46.2 million.

In sixth place in its eighth week, Disney’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” made an additional £359,588 for a grand total of £56.6 million. Lionsgate U.K.’s latest release, “The Critic,” debuted at number seven with £353,075. Sony Pictures’ “It Ends With Us” came in eighth, earning £327,196 for a total of £20.8 million, while Disney’s “Alien: Romulus” held the ninth spot with £268,310, increasing its overall earnings to £12.7 million. Finally, DJ Tech LTD’s Malayalam-language film, “Ajayante Randam Moshanam,” joined the chart in tenth place with £189,982 as a new entry.

Upcoming on September 18, Universal will distribute the documentary “Jung Kook: I Am Still,” starring BTS member Jung Kook. On September 20, Mubi will release their Cannes and Toronto Film Festival-winning body horror film “The Substance,” featuring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, and Dennis Quaid.
