‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Bewitches Box Office, Scares Up Third Straight Win in U.K. and Ireland​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for films that span the spectrum of genres and styles, I must say that this week’s box office in the U.K. and Ireland is an intriguing mix of old favorites and new contenders. The continued success of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is a testament to the enduring appeal of sequels, while the strong performance of Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” on its 10th anniversary re-release serves as a reminder of the power of timeless storytelling.


In the U.K. and Ireland, “Beetlejuice” has ruled the box office for a third week in a row. The sequel produced by Warner Bros. earned approximately £2.4 million ($3.2 million) over the weekend. This brings its overall earnings to an impressive £18.2 million ($24.4 million), as reported by Comscore.

In its second week, Universal’s movie “Speak No Evil” maintained its strong performance, grossing £813,890 and totalling £2.8 million so far. Debuting in third place was Mubi’s new film “The Substance,” earning £591,247. In its second week, Studiocanal’s movie “Lee” slid to fourth place, collecting an additional £556,465 and reaching a total of £1.8 million.

During the weekend, both “Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (10th Anniversary Edition)” from Warner Bros. and “Despicable Me 4” by Universal earned an identical amount of £453,921 each. This brings “Despicable Me 4’s” total earnings to a whopping £46.6 million after 11 weeks.

In its initial release, Signature Entertainment’s “200% Wolf” ranked seventh, grossing £237,037. The long-running films “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “It Ends With Us” continue to dominate the top 10, accumulating £57 million and £21.2 million respectively, after nine weeks (for Deadpool) and seven weeks (for It Ends With Us), holding the eighth and tenth positions. Lionsgate U.K.’s “The Critic” seized the ninth spot during its second weekend, bringing in £208,153, adding to its total of £875,463.

On Wednesday, September 25th, Trafalgar will debut “Edward Scissorhands: Matthew Bourne’s Dance Interpretation of Tim Burton’s Iconic Film.” Additionally, on Thursday, September 26th, Trafalgar offers the music film “Paul McCartney and Wings – One Hand Clapping,” which takes viewers back to the year 1974.

This coming Friday, Entertainment Film Distributors will simultaneously release “Megalopolis,” directed by Francis Ford Coppola, along with the animated film “Dragonkeeper.” Meanwhile, Curzon Cinemas will debut the comedy film “My Old Ass,” which premiered at Sundance, and Lionsgate will unveil the horror-thriller “Never Let Go,” starring Halle Berry.

Icon’s latest release is “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” the fourth instalment in the popular supernatural horror series. Meanwhile, Studiocanal presents the acclaimed drama “The Outrun” featuring Saoirse Ronan. Signature Entertainment is offering a double feature of “Terrifier” and its sequel “Terrifier 2.” Lastly, Trinity Anime’s offering is “Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram.

Hailing from India, Dreamz Entertainment is set to release two films: the Tamil action comedy “Petta Rap,” and the Telugu action drama “Devara Part 1.” These productions feature the renowned actor NTR Jr., best known for his role in “RRR.

On the occasion of their 20th anniversary, Universal and Park Circus are launching the re-release of “Shaun of the Dead” and “Mean Girls,” respectively.
