Battlefield Boss Says PS5 Pro Price "Makes Sense" Even If Its Expensive For People

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension regarding the PS5 Pro. On one hand, it’s impressive to see the technological leap from previous generations, especially when adjusted for inflation. The performance it offers is indeed tantalizing, like a high-definition siren song luring us into the world of next-gen gaming.

As a gamer, I’ve been keeping an eye on the buzz surrounding PlayStation’s PS5 Pro’s price tag. Even though EA’s Vince Zampella acknowledged that it’s still steep for some, he finds it “not that bad” when stacked against other alternatives in the market. However, he doesn’t shy away from acknowledging its high cost, which remains a challenge for many gamers like myself.

In an interview with IGN about Battlefield‘s future, including a potential return to modern settings, the Head of Respawn and EA Studios Organization’s Group GM noted that, when accounting for inflation, the PlayStation 5 Pro isn’t significantly more expensive than past consoles. He added that it delivers superior performance compared to constructing a PC with an equivalent price tag. However, he acknowledged that its cost is higher than many consumers would be comfortable with.

Essentially, Zampella pointed out that it’s a matter of finding a balance. It is indeed costly for many individuals, there’s no denying that. However, not everyone will be able to afford it. If it could be made more affordable, that would certainly be ideal. I, too, wish for more people to benefit from it. Yet, considering the circumstances, it does make sense.

Regarding the impact of the PS5 Pro on the upcoming Battlefield series installment, Zampella mentioned that the team will need to observe and wait. He also noted that the rate at which the PS5 is adopted by gamers will influence what the team can accomplish. Furthermore, since the next Battlefield game will continue to function on the standard PS5, the team’s focus will be on enhancing the experience for PS5 Pro users.

It’s not clear yet from EA when we can anticipate the next Battlefield game, but the launch of the PS5 Pro is imminent. Although its $700 price tag has deterred some, gamers who desire top-tier quality in playing PS5 games might still consider purchasing it.
