Battlefield 6’s Campaign Is Inspired By This Movie And TV Show

This summer, we’ll get a complete unveiling of the upcoming game, whether it ends up being Battlefield 6 or something else. For now, some team members involved in crafting the game’s campaign are offering sneak peeks into the storyline they’re working on.

Roman Campos-Oriola, the creative director at EA Motive, shared with Inverse that the campaign for their game was partly influenced by the TV series “Lioness,” created by Taylor Sheridan. This show features Zoe Saldana in the role of a CIA officer spearheading the “Lioness” unit, a group of female operatives.

In a separate statement, senior producer Philippe Ducharme expressed his admiration for Alex Garland’s 2023 war film, Civil War, which chronicled a group of journalists reporting on a modern American civil conflict. He noted that some aspects of the game they are developing align well with this movie, making it a useful point of reference for them.

Campos-Oriola mentioned that a key motif for the Battlefield 6 storyline revolves around portraying “ordinary individuals with exceptional abilities finding themselves in extraordinary predicaments.

The developer mentioned that this generates a quite intriguing interaction pattern regarding human connections, which is something we aim to represent within the solo gameplay experience.

Previously, EA Motive was responsible for creating the 2023 version of Dead Space, a game that Ducharme acknowledged is significantly distinct from Battlefield. Yet, he emphasized that the intention was to delve into the “tension arc” – a term referring to the peaks and valleys – to maintain player engagement by keeping them intrigued throughout the gaming experience.

Beyond the main campaign, Battlefield 6 is expected to feature a robust multiplayer component, with DICE taking charge of its development once again. Additionally, there are whispers that the popular Portal mode from Battlefield 2042 could make a comeback.

At present, EA is carrying out initial trials for the game within the Battlefield Labs initiative, which has led to several unauthorized disclosures. Players have been posting gameplay footage online despite EA’s explicit instructions against it.

While there’s no announced launch date for Battlefield 6 yet, some speculate it could arrive as early as this fall. However, Electronic Arts (EA) has officially confirmed that the game is set to be released by the end of March 2026. With Grand Theft Auto 6 now pushed back to 2026, EA hinted recently that Battlefield 6’s release timeline might become more transparent due to GTA 6’s delay.
