In Battlefield 6, characters will gradually accumulate advantages (perks) throughout a game without explicit action, leading to a strong active skill at the end.
In their recent community update, DICE explained that they aim to emphasize the distinct advantages of each character class in the upcoming Battlefield game. Previously, they had announced that Battlefield 6 would not restrict weapons based on classes.
As a gamer, I’ll tell you this: During my gaming sessions, there’s something called Training that DICE has introduced. This isn’t your typical training, it’s more like a personalized growth path for each character class I pick. There are two distinct paths to choose from, and the more I complete objectives or collaborate with teammates, the more my Training levels up. With every level-up, I unlock unique passive bonuses tailored to my chosen class. Once I reach level three in Training, I get access to a special active ability that sets my class apart.
In the blog post, an example of a skill that can be learned in the Recon class is the ability to summon a drone at level three, which identifies enemies for a certain period. The specific skills players acquire at levels 0, 1, and 2 depend on their chosen training path, but all classes share the same level-3 active skill. Each class has only one such active skill. Activating a level-3 ability resets your training to level 2, allowing you to recharge your level-3 skill afterwards.
For instance, if you opt for the Sniper Training track, you’ll gain enhanced sighting abilities from the get-go up to making enemy sniper headshots lethal at level 2 of training. On the other hand, selecting the Pathfinder Training path allows players to move swifter when crouching and prone from the start, while at level 2, enemies automatically detect you upon being damaged. The entire Recon Training skill tree is illustrated below.
In Battlefield 6, it appears that a significant new feature is training, designed to motivate players to effectively carry out their assigned roles and foster teamwork. DICE hasn’t yet disclosed what the advanced abilities will be for the other three classes at level three, but they have mentioned that this system has been accessible in the last two Battlefield Lab testing sessions.
In addition to unveiling it, DICE also disclosed the distinctive weapon categories, characteristics, and equipment for each of the four classes in Battlefield 6. Although players can utilize any weapon with any class, employing a class’s unique weapon type will provide extra passive benefits.
