The testing phase for the next Battlefield game, called Battlefield Labs, is restarting with a quick, focused test. This round will concentrate on refining things like how footsteps sound and ensuring shots accurately connect with targets.
The official Battlefield team announced on X (formerly Twitter) that they’ll be holding a test on December 2nd from 4-6 PM Pacific Time. This two-hour test will give players a sneak peek at the content coming in the larger Battlefield 6 update on December 9th. The test will focus on the Conquest and Escalation modes on the Eastwood and Operation Firestorm maps.
We’re testing improvements to combat, including clearer audio for footsteps – so you can better judge how far away enemies are and what surfaces they’re on. We’re also working on the network and how hits register, aiming for smoother and more reliable combat, especially in close-range fights. Expect further adjustments to core combat systems as well.
This test is for PC players only and can be accessed through either the EA app or Steam. Similar to past Battlefield Labs tests, you’ll need to register for the program and agree to a non-disclosure agreement before you can join.
Although this test was brief, Battlefield Studios plans to run more short, spontaneous sessions to quickly gather feedback on gameplay improvements. They also intend to hold larger playtests to evaluate new features and content before they’re officially launched.
Over the coming months, Battlefield Labs will help us test out lots of new ideas and experimental gameplay using feedback from players like you. We’re also planning future test sessions to explore things like changes to maps, how quickly the action moves, and different team sizes – including options for smaller matches or matches focused on vehicles.
Battlefield 6 has quickly become a major hit for EA, achieving the highest sales of any game in the US so far in 2025, and breaking franchise records. It also had the best first month of sales for any game since 2022’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However, it remains to be seen if Battlefield 6 will ultimately sell more copies than this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Battlefield 6 is getting a new temporary map and an ice-climbing axe weapon in an update on December 9th, as the game is currently in its first season. The developers at Battlefield Studios also report that their anti-cheat system is working well, with 98% of matches now being played without cheaters.
