The first season for Battlefield 6 is now available, including the long-awaited free-to-play battle royale mode, Redsec. Players have mixed reactions – some are enjoying the new content like maps and weapons, while others are disappointed with the new battle pass.
Many first-person shooter games, such as Battlefield, include a battle pass system. This lets you earn cosmetic items like character and weapon skins, or in-game currency to buy future battle passes without using real money.
So, Battlefield 6’s first season is here, and it brought a new battle pass with it. Honestly, a lot of us players aren’t thrilled with it. It’s just not hitting the mark for some of us right now.
Battlefield 6 players call out price and contents of new battle pass
Almost immediately after the new battle pass was released, players started sharing their complaints online about its price, what it offers, and how difficult it is to level up.
One player expressed feeling ripped off after the release of the first season’s battle pass and battle royale mode. They explained they don’t want to spend time playing a battle royale they find underwhelming just to earn new cosmetic items like skins, weapons, or attachments.
Feels like bait and switch.

They finished by stating that “Battlefield has lost what made it special,” and pointed to the new battle pass as the cause, explaining that players feel pressured to play a specific mode, Redsec, just to make quicker progress.
Players have pointed out that you can make full progress through the pass without playing any Battle Royale matches or completing related challenges. While weekly challenges tied to Battle Royale can be swapped out for new ones, playing the Battle Royale mode will still help you advance faster.
Many players reacted negatively to the price of the premium battle pass, which costs $25 and includes benefits like faster progression and server hosting. Fans have expressed that a $25 ‘pro’ battle pass is too expensive for a game that already costs €70, and that it’s unfair to ask players to pay extra for content within a game they’ve already purchased.
25€ for a Battlepass “pro” is an absurd price in an already 70€ game. (“normal” Battlepass is 10€)

One player noted that this is now the typical structure for battle passes: the $10 version unlocks all content, while the pricier option simply provides a faster progression. They emphasized that buying the expensive pass isn’t required, as all rewards are still obtainable with the cheaper one.
Even though players really like Redsec, the new battle pass is causing a lot of disagreement within the Battlefield 6 community.
