Although there hasn’t been an official announcement about the next Battlefield game, Electronic Arts (EA) and DICE have confirmed that there will be an open beta for Battlefield 6. What’s more, they revealed that during the beta, players will have the option to select either an “open” or “closed” weapon setup when playing.
The developer proposed, “Why not offer both options?” In the upcoming open beta, players will be able to select playlists where signature weapons are tied to particular classes, or they can opt for those without such restrictions. The developer hinted, “We have more exciting features in store.
In earlier games such as beloved Battlefield 4, weapons were tied to specific character classes. However, Battlefield 2042 introduced a change that allows players to select any weapon regardless of their class. Some players found this shift challenging, while others welcomed the increased flexibility. It seems DICE is attempting to cater to both groups by offering a choice in Battlefield 6.
In Battlefield 6, each character class comes equipped with distinctive weapons, and wielding these specific weapons offers certain perks. For instance, if you pick the Recon class, a sniper rifle will offer extended breath-holding time. However, if a player selects the Assault class and uses a sniper rifle, they won’t reap this particular advantage.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled about DICE’s decision to let us tailor our loadouts independently, regardless of class. This feature allows me to adapt my gear to suit the requirements of my team, enhancing our chances of victory in combat.
On July 31st, it’s been reported that Battlefield 6 will be formally revealed. At this point, DICE might disclose additional information about the open beta. Some online conjecture indicates the open beta could start in August, but nothing is definitive at the moment. Stay tuned to TopMob for further updates on Battlefield 6, set to release by March 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
