Shortly after fixing exploits that allowed players to unfairly gain experience in Battlefield 6‘s Portal mode, Battlefield Studios announced a new official casual mode. This mode lets players progress by playing matches with more bot opponents than human players.
The new ‘Casual Breakthrough’ mode will feature smaller lobbies with 16 real players and 32 bots, splitting into teams of eight players and 16 bots each. According to a post on Battlefield Comms X, this mode offers a more laid-back experience while still letting you earn progress and complete challenges. You’ll still gain Career XP, Weapon XP, and Battle Pass XP as you play, and your progress will count towards any challenges you’re working on.
This mode has a few limitations: you won’t receive Dogtags or Accolades while playing Casual Breakthrough, and your performance won’t count towards your overall career statistics. You’ll earn full XP for your own actions, but actions performed by bots will only give you reduced XP.
Okay, so they’ve just dropped the new Breakthrough mode, and I’ve already jumped in! Right now, you can play it on two maps: Siege of Cairo and Empire State. You’ll find it under the Multiplayer section in the main menu. The devs at Battlefield Studios are really asking for our thoughts on it, saying they’re keeping a close eye on what we think to see if they need to tweak anything later on. Hopefully, it’ll be awesome, and they’ll listen to what we have to say!
Battlefield Portal does let players battle against AI bots, but the developers noticed many players were creating servers just to quickly gain experience points (XP). To address this, they stopped allowing progression on bot-focused servers. Casual Breakthrough seems designed to offer a stepping stone for players who aren’t quite ready for full player-versus-player combat, while still allowing them to earn rewards and level up.
Battlefield has added a new battle royale mode called Battlefield Redsec. It’s also available as a separate game for those who don’t have the main Battlefield 6 game.
