Battlefield 6 Gets Landing Roll, But It Might Give You Motion Sickness

Information leaked from the current Battlefield Labs testing suggests that the landing roll, initially presented in Battlefield 5, is expected to reappear in the next game. At this point, the roll animation being tested appears less refined and smoother than its counterpart in BF5, which has led to some player criticism.

A clip displaying the landing roll during Battlefield Labs’ test run was initially shared on the BattlehubYT X channel, through Insider Gaming. However, this particular upload was removed due to a copyright issue. Subsequently, other channels have reposted the video.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed a move reminiscent of Battlefield 5’s landing roll in this game. It seems like it could help lessen fall damage when leaping from great heights. However, the playtest version feels sluggish, awkward, and downright disorienting. From my first-person view in the video, I can tell that the current animation might induce motion sickness in players if used excessively.

It’s quite possible that this feature isn’t its final form yet. After all, the version of the game being tested at Battlefield Labs is only an early alpha, meaning it’s far from complete and even lacks an official title. Although participation in the limited playtest requires a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), there have still been leaks. DICE team members ask fans to remember that the game is currently much earlier in development than what is typically shown to the public.

This summer, Electronic Arts (EA) intends to unveil Battlefield 6 completely, and the game is scheduled for a launch by March 2026. According to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, the planned release of Battlefield 6 will not clash with Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), as GTA 6 has been pushed back to an early 2026 release date as well.
