During the Battlefield 6 Beta, some players expressed concern about the size of the maps. However, after playing two of the largest maps ever created for the series, it’s clear there’s no need to worry – Battlefield 6 will offer plenty of expansive environments.
After we showed an early look at Battlefield 6, players finally got to try it out with the Beta in August. The Beta was incredibly popular, with hundreds of thousands of people playing before it even officially launched – breaking player count records! While most players enjoyed the experience, there was one main issue people talked about.
The maps used over the two weekends tended to be smaller, encouraging intense, close-range fighting in tight spaces, like on Empire State and Iberian Offensive. While maps like Liberation Peak and Siege of Cairo were included, players were quick to share their disappointment online, saying Battlefield 6 felt too similar to Call of Duty.
EA quickly responded to questions with a new preview of the game, ahead of its October 10th release. This preview let us check out Mirak Valley and revisit Operation Firestorm, showcasing the large and enjoyable maps the game offers.
Mirak Valley delivers classic Battlefield experience
Mirak Valley is expected to be one of the largest maps in Battlefield 6 when it launches, though it won’t be as big as Halvøy. This doesn’t include any potential maps added for the Battle Royale mode.
This new preview build immediately gave us full access to everything – all the weapons, attachments, gadgets, vehicles, and more – so we could experience the game just like it will be at launch.
Starting a new match with all my gear, I immediately noticed this map was clearly inspired by classic Battlefield games. Leaving the base was an incredible experience, with vehicles racing everywhere and players rushing to capture different objectives.
There are lots of vehicles – I saw 13 on each side – and the objectives are spread out, meaning you have more time to think and plan your strategy. It’s a perfect setup.

Unlike smaller maps where you’ll likely die and respawn frequently, Mirak Valley encourages a more strategic playstyle. You have time to carefully move into a strong position and fortify it with respawn beacons and other defenses for a sustained hold.
Instead, you could try taking long, indirect routes around the edges of the map to sneak up and capture the objective.
The game is full of action with vehicles available everywhere. Unlike Liberation Peak, Mirak Valley has plenty of vehicles, so you won’t be constantly fighting over jets and helicopters.
Operation Firestorm is back in the rotation
Battlefield 6 is bringing back Operation Firestorm, along with the expansive Mirak Valley map. Players who enjoy larger environments can focus solely on these maps if they prefer, skipping the smaller ones entirely.
Whether it’s flying in a jet, climbing tall ladders, or driving a tank through large buildings, everything here is incredibly fun, and it’s more than just remembering good times.
The map fits perfectly with Battlefield 6’s gameplay and features. Everything feels natural, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the new Escalation mode blends in just as well.
Escalation is a classic Battlefield experience. It starts with all objectives immediately available, and as the match goes on, the action becomes more focused as objectives are eliminated. This builds to an explosive and chaotic finale centered around the Firestorm area, delivering the signature Battlefield mayhem players love.

Although we only got a brief look at a small portion of Battlefield 6’s larger maps, it’s clear that those maps are shaping up well and there’s no need for concern.
The game has huge levels, and with regular seasonal updates after release, we can expect even more content to be added over time.
