Battlefield 6 fans beg DICE to keep CoD’s wacky crossover skins out of the game

The highly anticipated Battlefield 6 has been officially unveiled, with rumors pointing to an October launch. This release coincides with Call of Duty fans expressing dissatisfaction over the excessive collaboration skins.

Previously, blending gameplay with characters from popular movies and shows wasn’t a completely novel idea. However, Fortnite took this concept to another level by offering players the chance to assume roles of numerous pop culture figures through their character skins.

As the trend continued, Call of Duty joined in, and the collaborations grew increasingly eccentric over time. For instance, we now have characters from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a cel-shaded Beavis and Butt-Head, and American Dad as playable options, which some consider to be pushing the boundaries too far.

On July 24, the cinematic unveiling trailer for Battlefield 6 was released, showcasing a contemporary military motif with authentic uniforms, firearms, and automobiles. It appears to be the long-awaited tactical shooter game, however, it’s yet to be determined if its live-service seasons will continue to embody this style.

Enthusiasm abounds for DICE’s latest shooter game, but there’s a significant concern it may mimic Call of Duty’s style with vibrant clothing choices seemingly at odds with military realism. Consequently, enthusiasts are urging DICE to steer clear of such designs.

Battlefield 6 players worried crossover skins will ruin the game

A Reddit user posted in a popular thread on the Battlefield subreddit, expressing their desire for an opportunity to design cosmetics that align with the game’s aesthetic. They’ve grown weary of the glowing alien skins and odd crossovers that seem out of place and unattractive.

for the love of god keep this game GROUNDED

As a gamer, I couldn’t be more in sync with someone who doesn’t appreciate the sight of overly vibrant firearms, outlandish costumes on soldiers, and cheesy one-liners that make you cringe. It seems we both prefer games with a bit more substance and authenticity.

HiddenXperia expressed hope that Battlefield 6 will successfully launch without ruining the game by introducing unnecessary cosmetic items, similar to Call of Duty’s past mistakes, and further stated that BF6 has a strong potential to rule.

Create the iconic Battlefield atmosphere, and you’ll triumph easily; expectations are not high, as demonstrated when Roger the Alien from American Dad appeared in Black Ops 6.

I speak for everyone:
We do NOT want this!

It appears that these unusual character skins are selling well, which is why Activision includes them in the game. However, Call of Duty is said to be reducing crossover skins, acknowledging they generate a lot of revenue but also admit that players complain about the game looking too silly.

As a gamer, it’s good to keep in mind that Black Ops 6 initially started off with a realistic military theme, and the wild crossovers were added later on. So, when it comes to Battlefield’s post-launch updates, we’ll just have to be patient and see what EA and DICE have up their sleeves.
