Barry Keoghan Starring in Beatles Movies, Ringo Starr Says

As a film enthusiast with a keen eye for talent, I am thrilled at the prospect of Barry Keoghan playing Ringo Starr in the upcoming Beatles biopic. With his diverse acting background and knack for portraying complex characters, he seems like the perfect fit to bring the beloved drummer to life on screen.

Barry Keoghan may soon be rocking a mop top, at least if Ringo Starr is to be believed.

The renowned drummer told “Entertainment Tonight” that the actor from Saltburn is set to portray him in Sam Mendes’ extensive film about the Beatles. When asked for his thoughts on Keoghan being cast, Starr responded, “I think it’s fantastic.” He continued, “I hear he’s learning drumming somewhere, and I hope he doesn’t practice too much!

The upcoming movie being produced by Sony Pictures will be a four-part series, each part showcasing the perspective of a different Beatle. For the first time since the group revolutionized music, Paul McCartney, Starr, and the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison have given permission for the scripted films to use their full life stories and music rights. This has sparked much talk about who will play the Four Fab, with Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, and Paul Mescal among those rumored to be involved. However, it’s important to note that no cast deals have been finalized yet, so plans could change. Despite this, Keoghan is the actor most closely associated with the project at the moment.

Landing Keoghan to play the vivacious drummer would be quite a victory. Besides being featured in the viral “Saltburn,” where he danced nude to “Murder on the Dance Floor” and sipped Jacob Elordi’s supposedly dirty bathwater, Keoghan was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Martin McDonagh’s “The Banshees of Inisherin.” He also made a maniacal appearance in “The Batman” as a character whose resemblance to the Joker hints at potential major roles in the superhero series. Apart from causing havoc in Gotham, he also appeared in Andrea Arnold’s critically praised film “Bird.

Keoghan is repped by WME, B-Side Management, Entertainment 360 and Sloane Offer.
