Barbie Project Friendship Is The Franchise's First Console Game In Almost 10 Years

As a longtime Barbie fan and collector, I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming release of Barbie Project Friendship! I remember playing Barbie games on my old computer as a kid, and it brings back so many nostalgic memories. The fact that this new game is coming to consoles and PC is truly a dream come true.

Approximately a year following the release of the Barbie movie, a fresh video game adaptation will be available for consoles and personal computers. In “Barbie Project Friendship,” players assume the roles of Barbie “Malibu” Roberts and Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts. Their mission is to revive the dilapidated Malibu Waves Community Center. Players can complete the entire game on their own or team up with a friend for local co-op play.

At Project Friendship, you get the chance to revamp and discover the community center. Your tasks include decluttering storage areas, mending broken lights, and embellishing the room with new decorations, among others. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock various outfits and furniture items to personalize your avatar’s appearance. Furthermore, there is an assortment of mini-games to enjoy, such as a cooking frenzy akin to Overcooked, repairing bicycles and scooters, engaging in tennis matches, attempting skateboard tricks, strumming the guitar, and even producing ice cream with Ken.

In this version of the game, the story takes place in the same universe as Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures and Barbie A Touch of Magic television series. The voices you’ll hear are the original English ones from these popular shows. Characters like Teresa Rivera and Nikki Watkins make an appearance. The head writer of those shows, Ann Austen, has also contributed to this project.

On October 25, the new Barbie Project Friendship game will be unveiled for purchase. This title can be enjoyed on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. It represents the initial console and PC release of a Barbie game since “Barbie & Her Sisters: Puppy Rescue” in 2015.
